James Harrison on Roethlisberger: You aren’t Peyton Manning, you just get paid like him

APWe’ve heard Steelers linebacker James Harrison trash Roger Goodell before, so his words about the Commissioner in this month’s Men’s Journal weren’t exactly shocking. (Although adding urine and homophobia to the equation was a nice touch.)
The more surprising and possibly lasting comments Harrison made were about quarterback Ben Roethlisberger’s performance in the Super Bowl last year.
“Hey, at least throw a pick on their side of the field instead of asking the D to bail you out again,” Harrison said. “Or hand the ball off and stop trying to act like Peyton Manning. You ain’t that and you know it, man; you just get paid like he does.”
Awesome. Roethlisberger could point out Harrison made very little impact for much of the game, finishing with one tackle. The Steelers just didn’t get consistent pressure on Aaron Rodgers until it was too late.
It’s at this point in the news cycle where Steelers coach Mike Tomlin would call Harrison and tell him to zip it for the sake of the team. Of course, Tomlin can’t talk to Harrison until the lockout ends. Heck, this interview (and this picture) may not have gotten past a Steelers P.R. staffer if there was no lockout in place.
At least the work stoppage was good for something.

Art Rooney, Rashard Mendenhall respond to James Harrison

APThe Men’s Journal article heard around the football world (yes, that’s the first time that phrase has even been written), has already attracted a lot of responses from readers, the media, and even the NFL.
Now the Steelers are ready to chime in.
“I have not yet seen the article in Men’s Journal nor have I spoken to James Harrison about his comments. We will discuss the situation at the appropriate time, when permitted once the labor situation is resolved,” Steelers President Art Rooney II said in a statement.
Harrison’s words about Ben Roethlisberger, Rashard Mendenhall, and Roger Goodell will draw the ire of Rooney and friends in Pittsburgh. It’s possible the team could fine Harrison on their own, but the fact Harrison spoke during the lockout could make the issue tricky.
Mendenhall, who Harrison called a fumbling machine, also responded via Twitter.
“I dont have a problem with what@jharrison9292 said because I know him. But I want you guys 2 check this out,” Mendenhall wrote before linking to last year’s rushing statistics.
In them, Mendenhall ranks fourth in carries with 324 and only fumbled twice. (He did fumble twice in the playoffs.)
Somehow we doubt Harrison has much use for that sort of logic.

Now Jerome Bettis gives his two cents on this......

Bettis needs to shut up too b/c he was caught trying to solicit oral sex for autographed footballs from women during training camp. Hipocrasy at its finest.

Thought it was funny he was hammering Goodell... thought it was stupid as hell for him to rag on his teammates. The guy only had a single tackle in the Super Bowl and he's talking shit about the main guys on the team? Grow up.

I am not saying I disagree with what Harrison said about the Super Bowl performance of Ben and Rashaad but did James forget to mention his stats in The Super Bowl...

1 Sack, 1 Tackle.....Looks to me like someone should be looking in the mirror before opening his big trap..

You hit the nail on the head Jake...His sorry a$$ was a no show for that game...Lets not forget he was going to retire earlier in the season to cause he was upset...Grow up is exactly right...

Too bad the steelers always have the ravens number during the regular season. Live around/know so many Ravens fans and the day after the Ravens lose to them, especially in the playoffs, is the best to see those sad faces

In fairness to Harrison, I am pretty sure the Packers double teamed him a lot.

From what I can remember he was also held a lot with no calls being made too.

Then again, I was on my tenth $10 miller lite at the house that Jones built.
