Legionnaires' disease strikes 6 Aria Hotel guests in Vegas
KSNV

If you or someone you know stayed at the Aria Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, you might have been exposed to Legionnaires’ disease.

Aria officials began notifying patrons who stayed at the hotel from June 21 to July 4.

Officials with the Southern Nevada Health District are asking the hotel to send letters listing the symptoms of the disease, which is a form of pneumonia.

Southern Nevada Health District spokeswoman Jennifer Sizemore said six former patrons came down with the disease in cases that ranged from December 2009 to April 2011.

According to the Centers for Disease Control, the disease can cause death in up to 5 to 30 percent of cases. However, the disease, which is airborne, can be treated successfully with antibiotics, and healthy people usually recover from infection.

The Aria set up a section of its website to explain the situation and the facts behind Legionnaires’ disease.

No bash plans as my travel is going to be crazy. Last week I did Los Angeles and I just got back from Hotlanta this morning then have the following travel schedule:

3rd week July - Jacksonville, FL
4th week July - Kansas City, MO
1st week August - Salt Lake City, UT
2nd week August - Denver, CO
3rd week August - Greenville, SC
4th week August - Phoenix, AZ
5th week August - HOME (phew - a whole week)
1st week Sept - Don't Know Yet (probably Evansville, IN)
2nd week Sept - Las Vegas, NV
3rd week Sept + beyond, not really mapped out yet.

So you'll be safe (at least from me) Cujo.

ohh, and no offense taken - actually found the response very funny.

Wow you are the traveling man! You must have a hell of a frequent flyer mile bank.

I appreciate you understanding it was just a joke.

After seeing your post bp2d I went and looked at the brochure I just got in from Aria. I am not much of a whale by any stretch - think my budget was $1800 last trip about a month ago .... left with about $1200 of the $1800 and of that I spent $300 on shoes (yup).

Anyway, here's the offer I got from Aria:

Now - Sept 30, 2011
Complimentary Accommodations in an Innovative Room
$200 in FREEPLAY
$75 in Food and Beverage Credit
Earn and Use Express Comps to Reward Yourself
Upgrade to a Corner Suite for an Additional $50 Per Night

Pretty good offer if you ask me for what I played. In May I ended up getting 3 days room comped, $75 in FREEPLAY and about $90 in food/beverage that I charged to the room.

Gotta be at a conference at Red Rock, so I'm not sure about wanting to drive that far - was thinking of staying at the JW Marriott up that way - but hell I can drop $5k at the Rampart Casino and not earn a single comp from them.

Cujo .... yes it is one hell of a big FF bank account. I'm sitting around 300,000 miles in my Delta Skymiles account right now - and that's not including American, United and USAir accounts. I also spent a ton of miles earlier this year when I sent my mom, sister and her kids down to Orlando in First Class - that was 5 tickets at 80,000 miles each. I think at my peak I was sitting just short of 600,000 miles in the account.

Keep in mind that when you earn status with the airlines, for every 1 mile I fly I not only get that 1 mile but an extra 1.25 miles put into my spendable bank. That doesn't affect my butt-in-seat miles needed to qualify for status (Diamond on Delta is 125,000 miles per year - in all of Delta's system there are less than 30,000 people with that status). So, if I fly 150,000 miles on Delta I earn an additional bonus of 187,500 miles for a total of 337,500 spendable miles. Last year I did just over 186,000 butt in seat miles. This year will be around 200,000 butt in seat miles as I will most likely be flying somewhere almost every week for the rest of the year, with the exception of 1 week in October (around my son's birthday) and the last week of the year when no real business is done in my industry.

Lifetime I'm now well over 1 Million Butt-In-Seat miles just on Delta alone.

baccy, why do you travel so much?

I own a collection agency and do the marketing / sales work. I go around the country to the various banks and debt buyers and get them to place their delinquent accounts with us.

Vegas is filthy.

Something bit me on my stomach and it took the huge bite like 6 months to go away. Nasty.
