I know that theres more people on this forum that hates rap than likes it, but I've always liked it. Tupac was my favorite growing up, but my taste changes more frequently now. I can listen to the more hood stuff like jeezy or the more hip hop music. I normally prefer hip hop but it depends on my day... I mean I even went to a Lil Jon n the East Side Boyz concert. I like a lot of different kinds

I think I like Rap more than rock or any other genre because I think rap is more positive... now before I get killed for saying that.. think about it, rappers talk about getting money, being the best..having the hottest chick.. its all about image (i misspelled image with imagine the first time, and imagine may of been better, haha).. But really rap is positive... All I do is win win win.. thats positive.. of course it talks about guns and drugs ect.. but it's always about being the best.... Rock has a lot of negative, girls leaving ya.. no one understands me.. i mean of course not every song but if we are playing the sterotypes, Rap much more positive...

That's not to say I don't have my issues with rap. My pet peeve with rappers are ones that talk about guns ALLL the time. cough Jadakiss cough Man who cares what gun you have, if you use it as much as you say you would be in prison, and even if not, murder aint cool... so I understand why people would hate it.. but regardless, There's WAYYY more to rap/hiphop than that.... It's an art. It's poetry. It can be deep. It's mood alterning. it's good music IMO...One of my favorite things about rap today is it's really about being witty and the most creative punch lines..It's making references and metaphors. Its truly word play.. entertaining stuff. its not "just" gangsta rap anymore...

Even I get tired of talks of guns n drugs, and recently I heard a christain rap song with this dude calling out the biggest names in rap. For those that don't know, it's a very common tatic to boast publicity in rap by calling someone out... but it was that that lead me to his other songs...... Call me crazy but I am starting to really enjoy Christian rap... and I'm not really a religous person... I am not a religous person at all. I wouldn't say this outloud really, but I just believe in doing good things and being the best person I can be... no higher power involved in that..

Still, I enjoy the religious rap I've heard so far. obviously, with any rapper theres different styles and sounds and whatnot, so I've definitely heard ones I didn't care for, but generally speaking. It's very refreshing... Give it a try... I am curious is anyone else that listens to rap, may like it .... Right now the main guy im listening to is Bizzle. He does have the diss song calling on RickRoss and Jayz, but his other songs are even better... I'll share more if anyone interested as I discover them

But even if you aren't a religious person, give christain rap a try...

Nothing personal WellSeasoned, I am sure more people will like this song more than ANY other rap song I would post, but i hate "comedy" rap.. hate it.. It's why I can't say I like Eminem. I hate when does stuff like my bum is on your lips, and it doesn't have to be that over the top for me to hate it... just not my thing, but I am sure a lot of people will find it funny

No biggie. I'm not big on Eminem either (90's rap was my era and he came very late in that decade as far as debuting nationally) However, my music is very diverse with several genres that goes anywhere from 70's Rock N Roll to Puerto Rican Reggaeton.

It wasn't until the last 5 years that I broke my 90s rap "phase", or least diversified a little more.. Loved Tupac, Big, Nas, Bone thugs ect... I listen to Pandora on my iphone more than anything now which is probably why I have been able to move on and listen to others more, but on the ipod itself it's 70% of 90s rap..

There is PLENTY of great rap out there right now. Just most of it isn't on the radio. Rap is the only genre I listed to really. I mean I listen to R&B and old Prince, Al Green etc. etc. but most of my listening is to rap. Big K.R.I.T. is one of the most talented going right now IMHO. He does most of his own production and has solid lyrics and a great way of presenting them.

I'm biased towards my hometown group Outkast so they are my favorite 90's group. Their 94 album through their 00'album. I liked how they go outside of the box and mix it up even with some soul and funk on songs and how they changed or reinvented each album somewhat.
