I say f him. They still have Westbrook and they picked up Kendall Hunter in the draft. Gore is very talented but his carries have dwindled every season since that stellar 2006 season. Shelf life for a RB isn't that great and Gore looks like he's about average as far as durability. 49ers should move on, imo.

Frank Gore has put up some big numbers for the San Francisco 49ers. Well, you know what that can mean, particularly as it involves a productive running back with an injury history.

As Adam Schefter relays, Gore plans to hold out when the Niners report to camp, as he angles for a new deal. This may not be received well, but isn't totally unexpected. When healthy, Gore has been an elite back, but his health is always a question, and he didn't play in the final five regular season games for San Fran last year. The question now is whether he'll play in Week 1 in 2011.

Last hour, the 49ers and running back Frank Gore had not agreed to terms on a new deal.

This hour, they have.

Per a league source, the player and the team have agreed to terms on a three-year extension.

The extension has $21 million in new money, with $13.5 million guaranteed.

Coupled with his current deal, which pays out $4.9 million in 2011, Gore can earn $25.9 million over four years.

It’s a far cry from DeAngelo Williams money, but no one not named Adrian Peterson or Chris Johnson is going to get close to what Williams got.

Frank Gore Fantasy Recap: Is He Back?

Oct 03 7:50a by David Fucillo
San Francisco 49ers running back Frank Gore got off to a slow start in 2011 with 148 yards through the first three weeks. Questions were asked as to whether he was still recovering from his hip injury, losing a step with age, or the victim of an awful offensive line. It remains to be seen what the truth is, but for one game he provided a retro appearance in which he actually came off the bench.
While rookie Kendall Hunter got the start, Gore finished with better numbers, rushing 15 times for 127 yards and one touchdown. Hunter rushed nine times for 38 yards and also added in two catches for 62 yards. The 49ers got some strong offensive line play, and benefited from playing against a poor rush defense, but Gore also showed some of his previous strength in pushing the defense forward on several occasions.
It remains to be seen how the 49ers will use the two running backs moving forward, which creates fantasy complications. Frank Gore would seem to be the guy still even if he is not starting, but there are no guarantees with 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh. I think Gore remains a start each week, but if you have him you'll want to pay close attention to him each week because that situation is in a great deal of flux.
