Woo-Hoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Before defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth could get to training camp and take his conditioning test, the Washington Redskins traded him to the New England Patriots for a fifth-round pick in 2013, according to league sources.
Haynesworth still will have to pass his physical in New England, as any player in any trade would.

Washington believes it is ridding itself of a player it had no intention of bringing back to its team this season, while New England is getting added help along its defensive line for a reduced price.
The former Pro Bowl defensive tackle is scheduled to make $5 million this season.
Now in a 24-hour span, the Redskins will have unloaded Haynesworth and quarterback Donovan McNabb, giving Washington an entirely different atmosphere as it prepares to open camp.
Washington traded McNabb to Minnesota for a sixth-round pick in 2012 and a conditional sixth in 2013 in a trade that will become official today.
New England has had a propensity on reaching out for talented but troubled players and succeeding, having previously done so with running back Corey Dillon and wide receiver Randy Moss.

For a 5th Rd pick in 2013...well worth the risk.
With him and Wilfork the Pats D-line is looking stellar. It takes a huge weight off of everyone else on that defense.

He is a head case even though he doesn't really sound like one. Kind of soft spoken from the press conferences I've heard. But the on and off the field issues are obviously there so we will see. I think its going to work out great. Bill has a good track record for this sort of thing.

great move...they should go for roy williams next if they can

Wow no clue if this is sarcasm or not, I think it is.

As far as Haynesworth not liking the 3-4, thats playing nose in the 3-4 he doesn't really like but WIlfork will do that. Also NE will obviously just go more 4 man fronts if it best utilizes him. It is definitely a high reward low risk move and if the JEts are getting namdi then you gotta swing for the fences a little.

I wanted Sidney Rice as well but no dice

The Pats were in four man fronts almost 50% of the time last year.
He has to pass a conditioning test for the deal to happen.. FAT chance.

Disappearing act by Haynesworth
By Mike Reiss

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- One of the notable personnel aspects from the Patriots' 24-20 loss to the Giants was the disappearing act of defensive lineman Albert Haynesworth in the second half.

Haynesworth's final play of the game was Brandon Jacobs' 10-yard touchdown run with 9:10 remaining in the third quarter. He was dominated by left guard David Diehl on the play, with Jacobs running through the hole Diehl helped open.

Haynesworth didn't play again, and his*absence**particularly stood out*in the team's short-yardage/goal-line package. That's usually the time to call on*6-foot-6, 350-pound players like Haynesworth.

But at the end of the game, when the Giants had first-and-goal on the 1, Haynesworth stayed off in place of linemen Ron Brace, Kyle Love, Vince Wilfork, Gerard Warren, Andre Carter and Mark Anderson.

Haynesworth was questionable on the injury report because of a back ailment and it's possible that was*a factor in his lack of action, although the team did not announce an injury at the game.

In the first half, he was utilized as part of a rotation in the team's base 4-3 defense, playing behind Wilfork, Love, Warren and Brace. Haynesworth drew a holding penalty in the second quarter, but otherwise didn't show up on the stat sheet in limited action.
