Canada vs. Japan
1:30pm FIBA under 19

under 145.5

These two already played earlier in the week and it ended 68-60 (128 points) in favor of Canada. This will be the 8th game played in 10 days for each team. Japan lost yeaterday to Australia in a high scoring game (92-83) as Japan shot from the outside and Australia got theirs inside.

Japan had just lost to China 87-59 on Wednesday and rested on Thursday. They put a lot of energy into the game vs. the Aussies. Now Canada and Japan play for fifth place. Canada is 6-1 and lost to Spain yesterday by 69-55. It was a letdown after beating the USA.

Japan scored just 60 vs. Canada, 63 vs. USA and 59 vs. China and now face Canada again, who want to win today. They win by defense. Canada did play a 99-54 game vs. Egypt earlier but here are the other games:

China 125
Ita 126
Russia 116
Japan 128
USA 116
Spain 124

Tough loss. Japan scored 11 in the 2nd and 3rd quarters but got 32 in the 4th. Japan only had two players score over 6 points (Takara and Makori) and ended up making 23 of 33 (70%) 2-point shots.

It hurt that Canada jumped ahead quickly by 20+ and allowed Japan back in it to make it respectable.
