Colorado Rockies ace Ubaldo Jimenez was still scheduled to make what could be his final start for Colorado on Saturday night.
But he might be traded before he makes it to the mound, according to executives of two teams who have spoken to the Rockies.
The Rockies remained in active negotiations with several clubs late Saturday, and one of them -- the Cleveland Indians -- scratched their top pitching prospect, left-hander Drew Pomeranz, from his start Saturday for Double-A Akron.
Pomeranz was described by one of those executives as being the centerpiece of a possible trade with Cleveland that has gathered steam in recent days. However, the Indians aren't the only club in the running for Jimenez.
The Cincinnati Reds have continued to express interest, according to a club that has been in contact with them. And the Red Sox and Rockies have exchanged ideas throughout the weekend, sources said.
An executive of one club said he was told the chances of Jimenez being traded before Sunday's 4 p.m. ET trading deadline were "50-50." But the same executive said it was still possible that the trade could happen quickly enough that Jimenez wouldn't reach the mound to make his start in San Diego on Saturday.
