Australia vs. Brazil
4:30pm Sunday

pick: Brazil +2.5

Brazil beat the Aussies by 28 earlier in the tourney by causing 29 turnovers. It was the last game of the first round and did not mean much. Australia lost yesterday to Spain and had another 25 turnovers. Tayla Roberts left the game early and did not return. She had 10 points in the first meeting but had 41 points and 24 rebounds vs. Japan earlier in the week. Also, Rebecca Allen hurt her ankle yesterday in the third quarter and did not return.

Damiris Dantas scored 24 points with 16 rbs. in the first meeting and guard Caravella played well too. Brazil only shoots 39% from the field and count heavily on those two players. Brazil is much more athletic but can be sloppy.

The game takes place in Chile so Brazil should have more fans there and will be representing South America. Australia will be motivated to win the bronze medal as well as revenge for the earlier bad loss to Brazil.

How will the injuries affect Roberts and Allen? I am not sure if they will play or not. It will help if they are out.

The game can be seen on the fiba.com site. USA and Spain meet in the final later tonight.

I pity the fool Dr T...you da man!

Thanks. Brazil wins outright 70-67. Both Tayla Roberts and Rebecca Allen play well for Australia but Brazil jumps ahead 51-42 and holds on for the win. Dantas of Brazil won the tournament MVP even though they finished in third place.

Hope to have some WNBA plays this week and some World University Games picks later in August.

The USA women's team will train in China Aug. 10-13, and will open up competition Aug. 14 vs. Brazil at 10 a.m. (all times EDT). The USA will then play Slovakia at 10 a.m. on Aug. 15 and Great Britain at 6 a.m. on Aug. 16. Quarterfinals action begins on Aug. 18, with the semifinals and finals on Aug. 19 and 21, respectively.

The USA men's team will be in China too.

There is a 12 hour time difference so I hope we get some overnight lines and totals.

I will put all the men's and women's plays in one thread. Olympic and 5Dimes are two books that should post lines and hopefully a few more. There are 24 men's teams and 16 women's so there will be plenty of games. Let's hope we see lines on all the games!

I know we still have a couple weeks and beggars cant be choosers but if you even are eyeballing a game and you have time to post a lean during normal US hours feel free to let us know and I will set my alarm to check for your play in the middle of the night.

You are the man Dr T. I truly love how you wait for good "value" and dont post every day. I wish I had the discipline you possess. ..Thank you again!

I am looking at some men's games on August 13, the USA vs. Mexico at 6pm and China/UAE at 8:30pm. I expect lines to be out that day at 11am and hope to see numbers in my favor. Between now and then I will be checking rosters and other info.

I will. I am hoping to see some lines up this weekend for the World Univ. Games.

The Jones Cup is going on this week and I loved Malaysia +43 today but did not post since very few books have lines for that tournament.

Most books are passing on the World University Games. The Eurobasket starts August 31 in Lithuania. There is an interesting story about Lithuania (men) in the last Sports Illustrated (page 52). Their team is sponsored by Tonybet.com and the logo is on their jerseys:

Can you imagine the NBA or the USA Olympic team being sponsored by a sportsbook?

I should have a few WNBA picks here as the season winds down. The regular season ends Sept. 11th and there should be some value when the odds come out on the 10th.
