Former NBA player Darius Miles was arrested at Lambert-St. Louis International Airport after he allegedly tried to take a loaded gun on a plane, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported.
Miles, 29, was held around 3.30 p.m. on Wednesday after X-ray screening at the airport helped security officials to detect the loaded firearm. It was not known if the gun was found on Miles or in his luggage.
The St. Louis native was booked into the city's county jail in Clayton on Wednesday evening on suspicion of unlawful use of a weapon.
He was to be booked and released pending application of a warrant on a formal criminal charge, the paper reported. The St. Louis County prosecutor's office will decide whether to file charges following a review of the case.
Miles last played in the NBA in 2009. He averaged 10.1 points and 4.9 rebounds across a checkered career, which took in spells with the LA Clippers, Cleveland Cavaliers, Portland Trail Blazers and Memphis Grizzlies.
