Brett Favre may be Considered by Dolphins?
By Christine Thomasos | Christian Post Contributor

Speculation about Brett Favre returning to the NFL is underway, with the Dolphins named as a team possibly willing to take a chance on the 41-year-old retired quarterback.

The Sun-Sentinel recently posed the idea of Favre joining the Miami Dolphins in a column, due to the lack of starting quarterback potential currently on the team. When the publication asked Dolphins coach Tony Sparano about acquiring Favre, he did not deny the possibility.

"I can't rule anything out," Sparano told Sentinel reporters.

The team is rumored to have issues with current quarterback Chad Henne, who has not been performing to the expectations of the Miami coaching staff, according to Sun-Sentinel. During a scrimmage game on Monday, Henne received with boos from fans watching.

“We want Orton,” the crowd chanted according to Sun-Sentinel.

A rumor had been circulating linking Kyle Orton, the Denver Broncos quarterback to the Dolphins squad. However, the trade was never completed which caused the team to sign Matt Moore.

Favre speculation boils in Miami

The story, not likely the man, rises again. Brett Favre is not coming to the Dolphins. OK? Despite Internet rumors fueled by innuendo from journalist twitter accounts, the Dolphins have no intention of signing Brett Favre, a highly placed team source is telling me. Chad Henne is the team's starting quarterback today. Period. Move along. Nothing to see here. Oh, I assume some of you will counter with the fact coach Tony Sparano declined to rule out the possibility today during his press conference. ... Look, the Dolphins won't rule out re-signing Dan Marino. They won't rule out trying to trade for the rights to Joe Namath. They have yet to confirm that they will open the regular-season in September.

Favre on Dolphins: “I don’t have any interest”

Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on August 5, 2011, 6:13 PM EDT

AP
It’s just not August in the NFL until some reporter is camping out in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.

This time around, Jeff Darlington of the Miami Herald had the honors. He got sick of hearing the Favre-related speculation about the Dolphins, so Darlington hopped on a flight to New Orleans, drove to Mississippi, and tracked Favre down at Oak Grove High School.

“I haven’t heard anything, and I don’t have any interest. No,” Favre “snapped” before jumping into his pickup truck.

Yeah, he didn’t sound especially happy to see a reporter.

“You’re from Miami?” Favre asked. “Don’t you have anything better to do?”

Just in case Favre’s words don’t convince you, Darlington said that Favre was moving very gingerly. In past summers, Favre regularly worked out with the high schoolers. A source told Darlington that wasn’t the case this summer and Favre was on vacation in Wyoming for much of the summer.

Maybe, just maybe, Darlington will be the last NFL reporter ever sent on FavreWatch to Hattiesburg. But we doubt it.
