Citi Field Blues In The Big Apple

The New York Mets now are in the midst of a five game losing streak and are the owners of a 22 -29 overall home record at Citi Field. Tonight Atlanta looks to take game two at Citi Field against the Mets who have been out scored 21-9 during the five game skid. Uggla and Freeman both extended their hitting streaks last night and seemed to be poised to continue unless Mets starter Niese with a 10-8 overall record and 3.94 ERA can break their momentum. Niese will have to drastically improve on his home performance though where he is 1-3 in his last five outings in Citi Field. The Mets run production in Niese's starts has only been 3 runs or fewer in 4 of those five home starts which all resulted in Mets loses. Hanson for Atlanta is 11-6 3.28 ERA overall and has won six straight road games. He has a 3-2 2.27ERA in six outings against New York. Hanson can be a stirkeout machine when he gets it dialed in. Chipper Jones might return to action tonight to add to Niese's worries and no name Jose Costanza is making a name for himself this week with great play on both sides of the diamond. Saturday Night Rain Delay Blues.

Game under way and Mets get a solo shot early to give Niese some breathing room. Another runs comes across and Hanson is shaky to start.

Big turn of events in New York. Braves get 5 runs in the third with both Uggla and Freeman continuing their hitting streaks.

The Mets counter with a 2 run Home Run to stay on Atlanta's heals. 5-4 ball game. This one is really going back and forth so far.

The Mets get another solo shot and a 2 run Home Run to make it 7-5. New York has hit 4 Home Runs off of Hanson.

The craziest finish in a Nationwide Race in Iowa that I have ever seen. Stenhouse Jr. leading on the front stretch on the final lap and blows and engine spurting oil and smoke out the back now losing power and Carl Edwards could not check up in time and wrecks him from behind across the start finish line for the Checkered Flag.

Mets get several RBI's to post 10 runs. New York had scored more runs tonight than in their previous 5 games combined. 10-6 New York in the 8th and I am tired so I think I will sign off for the day. Mets break the Citi Park Blues with 4 Home Runs in one game. Stay Safe Rx Land.
