Florida has a five game losing streak on their hands and a dismal 23-35 Home Record at Sun Life Stadium in Miami. The poor attendance has to be discouraging for the Marlins. Atlanta has been basically a .500 team since the All Star Break and recently has shown signs of losing their composure in critical situations evident with the ejections of Manager Gonzales and First Baseman Freeman last night. Dan Uggla has now hit safely in 29 straight games but has been fortunate to some extent by receiving breaks and rolls that may not occur in future contests. Both starting pitchers Beachy and Hensely have had success against their respective counterparts lineup's when these two division opponents meet. Beachy gave up only 2 hits in 7 innings while Hensley held Atlanta scorless through 6 innings in their last outings in this mathcup. Beachy has a strikeout to walk ratio of 3.5:1 and the Marlins average 8.5 strikeouts per game. Florida does hold a slight advantage in double plays turned this year going into tonight against an Atlanta squad that is prone to hitting into double plays. As the water continues to murky around the Fish and Atlanta's seemingly inability to keep their cool in sticky situations, today we will use the advice our old grandfather would recommend. If the Fish aren't biting, try another lure. Today's lure will come in the form of H+R+E's under 26 1/2 in expectation of Beachy dialing in on the corners of the strikezone for which he is quite capable and Hensley being backed up defensively with some double plays. Both Beachy and Hensley have WHIPS below 1.20 and Hensely has only given up 3 Home Runs this season. Stanton has roughly only a .200 career average versus the Braves. Atlanta now has speedy Michael Bourn and Jose Constanza to cover the deep gaps at Sun Life Stadium which may factor in tonight robbing Marlins batters of otherwise hits. Florida's 4-16 record after 3 or more consecutive losses and Atlanta's on again off again offense deters the angler from casting into either direction. Instead we will try our new lure looking for small nibbles along the way to catch and peg a H+R+E's under 26 1/2. Source: ESPN MLB Preview.

Good info John. I watched Hensley's last outing versus St. Louis and was all over the place; in fact, he hurt a player by hitting him in the head. I wonder if he is going to have his confidence back by tonight (should be interesting). I agree that Atlanta has been lackluster post-break. One thing that is worrisome is that the Marlins have been knocking at the door and they could break out at any moment. Good luck on your proposition.

Yes I read about Hensley's bad outing in the preview. Hopefully he comes out sharp and continues to avoid giving up the HR ball. Ramirez is not scheduled to play tonight according to ESPN preview still sidelined with shoulder injury. Morrison may return but has historically only hit .194 versus Atlanta. If Hensley can keep speedy Bourn and Constanza off the bases for the majority of the early innings, it should be a big confidence boost to build on.

Sounds interesting. I'll go small on this. Why not? Also rooting for ATL.

Useful or useless trivia for tonight's game. If Dan Uggla can hit safely he will match a Braves record that dates back to 1970. Vietnam was still in full swing and Nixon was president and I was 3 years old. Andre Ethier of the Dodgers also had a 30 game hit streak this year.

Braves get 1 hit and a run to make score 3-0 through six complete innings. A very long sixth inning for the Marlins. H+R+E now at 14.

Florida with a massive 3 run Homer to tie the score 3-3. Total now at 18 after 7 complete innings. That hurt. Hope someone hits one more solo shot to end it in regulation.

Florida can't capitalize with bases loaded and total still remains 18 after 8 complete innings.

Braves get a hit but neither side can score. Total at 19. With the rain delay and all the pitching changes plus the extra innings makes for a very long ball game.

Braves get two hits and a run and the only double play of the game to end it. Braves 4 Marlins 3. Final H+R+E Total 22. Had some extra work to wade through tonight but the new lure is a keeper. Will retire it to the tacklebox to use for another day. Stay Safe Rx Land.
