something wrong with him? ehh

bloop hit, 3-2 pitch that didnt cut to abreu, abreu sat back and put it in the seats, it happens, i dont think its really thread worthy, there is nothing wrong with him, not sure if you saw him 3 nights ago blow away the red sox but you dont start a thread on that? he is human

and the sox game, no excuses but a 250 foot fly ball that hit the wall for a double then a sac fly really does not warrant 'maybe something is wrong with him' because in any other stadium besides a little league park like fenway that is a 1-2-3 inning...so maybe a little premature BAS

Mo always seems to struggle when they bring him in non save situations. Closers in general for that matter

I think I told you this before... Hopefully I don't have to say it again.
I'm a HUGE Yankees Fan ! Have been All my life ... Plus I Believe I'm a LOT Older than you. So I've been through All the Bad and Good the Yankees have had over the Years... You probably weren't even Born for some of those.

But You being a yankees fan... takes it just a little too Far.
You Sound like some mets fans I know..... As bad as they could play at any given time.......... I hear Excuse after excuse.

First off. When Mo was Mo... he was Un-hittable ! He Didn't BLOW many 2 games in a row.... and as Much as you THINK that was a 250 ??? Foot "FLY BALL"
I Watched it... He Shot it ! it was Hit HARD !
How do you get 250 Ft ????? It's the Green Monster 310-379 ?? I mean I have been there More than Once... I Don't remember it being 250 ft !

And your Little league park you talk about..... IN ANY OTHER BALLPARK.THAT'S A HOME RUN !
it wasn't hit to the Right Field side... maybe little league Park would be good for there....But Not on the Green Monster side... when it's Up that High on the wall.

Hey.. I could Understand you Rage ! I'm as pissed as Anyone. But Let's face it
Mo Cost the Yankees Two Games ! Something is not right with him..... This is Not what he Normally does.

End of Story !

Mariano is still very good but not great anymore.

This reminds me of 1996 when Wettland was closing very good but Mariano seemed great as the 8th inning guy.
Next year Wettland was traded & Mariano closed. This year Robinson seems like he's gonna be great & Mariano
reminds me of Wettland still good but not great anymore.

History repeating itself!

In the meantime John Papelbon coming off a poor 2010 season picked up his 26th save in 27 chances by mowing down the Twins in the bottom of the 9th 1-2-3 to perserve a 4-3 Bosox win that put a little daylight (2.5 games) between themselves and the Yankees for first place in the AL East.

Papelbon in the final year of his contract has been solid all year with only one blown save and four wins with no losses. His ERA of 3.14 is higher than his career ERA but can be explained by several appearances in blowouts during which he gave up a meaningless run or two. His WHIP of 0.99 and opponents Bat Avg of.217 are both outstanding numbers. Pap has not yielded a run since July 16th when he gave up one in a 9-5 Bosox win at Tampa in a non-save situation. He has only given up two hits since then in 11 appearances, striking out 12 without allowing a walk. His 64 wiffs against only 8 walks in 48.2 innings this year are remarkable numbers..

The Red Sox now 29 games over .500 ball have the 2nd best record to Philadelphia in MLB. All coming after an 0-8 start...The Sox have the best road record in the majors at 35-21 despite losing their first seven games away from Fenway Park.

Jon Lester goes for Boston tonight for the sweep in the Twin Cities and it's on to Seattle for three games..

With all that said the remaining 6 games (3 games each at home) head to head between the two clubs is most likely going to decide which team wins the AL East.

Mariano "The Sandman" Rivera on his blown save against Red Sox Sunday night:

Exactly my thoughts, I dont know why Girardi brings him in for non saves and why does he bring Phil Hughes out of the bullpen in the 10th inning at Fenway to then miss his scheduled start? Hughes has only had a few starts coming off the dl and was just starting to pitch better. Anyways, Mo is still #2 in the league in saves, no reason to worry imo

Here's the thing people forget.
Mo pitches in about 70 games every season.
Every season he strings two or three games together where he has consecutive brain farts.

Look at 2004, probably his greatest season, saved 53, even is September in that year he had back to back brain farts.
He averages 67 games a year, he's crap in 3 or 4 out of 67, even at age 40 +

600 on the career.. Congrats

SEATTLE (AP)—Mariano Rivera saved the 600th game of his career, moving within one of Trevor Hoffman’s major league record, by closing out the New York Yankees’ 3-2 win over the Seattle Mariners on Tuesday night.
