Atlanta Braves pitcher Tim Hudson has had great success in Florida as evident by his 6-1 2.79 ERA record in 10 starts against the Marlins. Hudson is 11-7 3.22 ERA overall this season but his Home Runs Allowed statistic might be the greatest factor tonight against a Florida squad who have dropped 6 straight games. Hudson has given up 9 Home Runs this season in roughly 145 innings pitched, however only 2 have came in road starts and 0 have been hit off of Hudson in his last last three games. Sanchez for Florida gets the start tonight at Sun Life Stadium and posts a 6-5 3.73 ERA 1.26 WHIP record overall. Sanchez is 0-4 4.70 ERA since June 10th and 1-5 4.73 in his last seven outings. Sanchez in the same number of innings pitched as Hudson has given up 15 Home Runs this season with 8 coming in home starts and 3 in his last three games. Sanchez's strikeout to walk ratio is 3.5:1 with 150 K's for the season while Hudson's is 3.2:1 and 106 K's. Tonight, however we will focus on Hudson's track record of not allowing Home Runs on the road and recent outings contrasted against Sanchez's record of being susceptible to Home Runs recently and at home. Dan Uggla now has a 30 game hit streak to his credit where he his batting .345 12 HR's and 27 RBI's, but others in the Atlanta lineup are also contributing. Martin Prado and Alex Gonzales have delivered key hits and Home Runs in this series. Florida has had a few big hits in this series but somehow cannot plate enough runs to break their six game skid. Florida now posts a 4-17 record after 3 or more consecutive losses this season and a 23-37 record against teams with a winning record. Tonight we will look to Hudson to continue his past success against Florida and in addition expectation of Hudson not allowing Home Runs combined with the probablity of an Atlanta offense that can take advantage of Sanchez's Home Run Allowed statistic and play Atlanta - 1 !/2 Reduced +145 looking for the Braves to sweep the Marlins at home for the second time this season.
A little drama at the end but Braves hang on for a 6-2 win. Hudson did not issue a walk tonight and only two double plays turned and no errors in the last two games of this series.
