Milwaukee Brewers +115

Experience dictates that it is very difficult for a good home team to be swept in a series - regardless of the starter, how a team is playing, injuries, etc... It is just not an easy thing to accomplish.

Let's make matters worse - St. Louis rolls out SP C. Carpenter -

Still, I am on Milwaukee tonight. The lineup is hot, I like Kotsay in there, he is a gamer and may surprise tonight (even if it means Braun is out). The Brewers hit Carpenter pretty hard ... add Gallardo to the mix and I like this situation.

I think Carpenter pitches well in this game, but it may not be enough...Brewers bullpen is rested and pitching great (esp. against the Cards). I think Axford has a lot of confidence dealing to them.

Plus, the way the Brewers have been pitching the Cards...it is no mistake that St. Louis is struggling.

MLB Record, 2011 Season 4-0 (+4.00 units).

Poor showing for the Brewers. "Hookem" came on late, but allowed base runners in every inning - very solid defense by St. Louis (as usual). Gallardo was ineffective for the most part - biggest mistake was failing to realize that Puljos does not have bad games back-to-back too often.

Brewers 2B Lopez was awful - his routine ground ball turn error and being out of position on an easier double play opportunity (both in the same inning) allowed the Cards to have a big inning. I am actually on St. Louis tonight ... not that I only play on Cards games, just coincidence.

Just so I don't go "beyond you". I went with Milwaukee because Brewers pitching have pitched the Cards effectively all season (with last night being the only exception in the past 6 games) - Gallardo went away from the game plan of going inside agains these hitters.

Carpenter has been lackluster against the Brewers. I've been at this a long time with documented success - seldom do I post stupid plays (this was not one of them, just a loss).

The only flaw was that the Cards were playing to avoid a sweep, which I wrote in my intro.

Best of luck this season.
