Jorge Gurgel is only -135. Should be -250 or so. He's a decorated Jiu Jitsu guy that loves to stand and bang for some reason. That being said, he's a technical striker with a great chin. He has better striking, wrestling, and submissions than his opponent. I think he'll roll even if he continues to fight stupid and pretend he's a K1 striker.

You may be right.

But I wouldn't advise anyone to bet on Jorge Gurgel. he is 2-4 in his last 6 vs. relatively weak competition. Jorge Gurgel doesn't "roll" through anyone and is 34 years old without a decent win in his career.

I wouldn't feel confident in betting Gurgel over most anyone. But that is just me.

I've made a ton of money going against Gurgel. Will be attending the fights tonight. Jake, you like anyone else on the card?

Duarte is getting bet HARD right now. Not sure if Gurgel is injured or what, but he has every edge in this fight.

PS I'm not attending the fights. Don't see anything else I like either. Healy and Villante should win but they are overpriced. I'm sticking to my bet and hoping that Gurgel isn't fighting through an injury that I don't know about.

Gurgel took 2 rounds to 1 IMO but the judges gave it to Duarte. One even gave him a unanimous decision for some reason. When I saw in earlier fights that the judges were giving rounds to guys for a takedown with 10 seconds of top position even when they were losing the other 4.8 minutes, I knew that Gurgel wasn't winning. Between the shitty judging and the shitty ref work, it was just a bad day for MMA. Oh well... on to the next one.

Come on man, that is weak.

It could have went either way. Gurgel was throwing more combinations, but most of the shots were hitting air. He defiantly was the aggressor. But Duarte was able to take him down when he wanted, while Gurgel was stuffed on all of his tries.

It was a close fight that could have went either way. That is the possibility you have when you bet Jorge Gurgel. He is a BJJ master with little ways to get it to the floor.

Was a close fight. To say Gurgel defiantly won 2 rounds is bias. Gurgel is what he always has been. If he would have "rolled" like you said he would it wouldn't of been a problem. But he is a below average fighter that basically just stayed busier on the feet. Doesn't mean all those shots landed.

I said IMO, which means "in my opinion". I thought he took the 1st and the 3rd fairly convincingly, but also knew that the meaningless takedowns were likely to sway the judging panel by watching the previous fight scores. I'd say more often than not, Gurgel gets the nod there.

It was close. Being there, I thought Duarte won. When I watched the replay this morning on TV, I couldn't believe how close the fight was. I thought Villefort won too. Anyways, on to the UFC guys.
