Chicago Cubs pitcher Carlos Zambrano was ejected last night after throwing at Atlanta Braves Chipper Jones. Zambrano had been tagged for a career high five Home Runs before the incident. Some sources today claim Zambrano cleaned out his locker after the ejection and might possible retire from the game of baseball all together. Regardless of the drama surrounding Zambrano, the two clubs meet again tonight in Atlanta in what we hope is a more professional game. The Braves hit a 70-49 record Winning 5 7-3 Last 10 yesterday while Chicago checks in a 57-68 record Losing 1 7-3 Last 10. Lowe for Atlanta is 7-10 4.78 ERA 1.48 WHIP and finally had a good outing last time out where he only gave up two runs in contast to a stretch where he was 0-3 9.00 ERA in his previous recent starts. Lowe likes the home stage where he is 6-2 in his last 8 starts at Turner Field. Lowe is also 4-1 3.52 ERA versus Chicago since 1997. Wells will make the road start for Chicago and is 3-4 6.05 ERA 1.59 WHIP. Wells gave up six runs in his last outing matching a season high for the third time. Wells is 2-1 2.38 ERA versus Atlanta since 1997. Today however we will focus on the most recent outings of the listed starting pitchers. In their last three games roughly 35 Innings Pitched, both Lowe and Wells have combined for 45 Hits, 25 Runs, 7 Home Runs, 14 Walks, and only 23 Strikeouts. The probablity that these figures run par or increase tonight coupled with both teams raising their average runs per game total by 1 run over their last seven games indicate offense. Dan Uggla has a .385 average with 4 Home Runs in his last 8 games and looks to extend his streak to 32 tonight. Chicago as a team currently has hit a Home Run in 10 straight games. Tonight we will look to the Over 9 1/2 +140 in expectation of offense supplied by both teams against a starting pitching duo who collectively have struggled in recent outings. After the dust settles tonight at Turner Field we hope to see a game total in double digits. Source ESPN MLB Preview & The Spread.
