I consider myself extremely educated on spotting the fakes. I researched these things quite extensively a year ago when I was building a sports bar. We bought over 150 jerseys as decorations for a wall in the pub.

While spending this weekend at the Indiana state poker championships at Hollywood casino, I was approached by my neighbor in the hotel. He had numerous tubs full of all players and teams in the NFL. These jerseys were as authentic as they come.

Watch out fellas......these Chinese sweatshops have upped their game

Don't they say that 95% of sports memorabilia is fake?

My buddy was the say way with spotting fakes, down to the specific type of stitch and thread.

The stitch and thread was one of the easier points to spot. Now they have eliminated nearly every shortcoming of the previous fakes.

IMO if the Authentic jerseys weren't so insanely overpriced to begin with you might not have millions of knock offs. At one point I know they were selling for as low as $19 a piece, and these were very good. If it cost $10 to make them that mark up is huge

You believe that Reebok makes the jerseys anywhere in the US? I am not sure, but I seriously doubt it.

Even if not, % of sales goes back to the teams or at least the licensing fee goes back to the NFL which goes to team in the US which goes to players in the US...

Again though, the knockoffs are going to have to start completely over next year when Nike takes over all the jerseys

I'd rather keep the multi millions a year within our borders, rather than china.

I would much rather give my money to whatever business can produce the best product the most efficiently. China cannot come close to the US when it comes to producing football talent, so they stay out of that market. The NFL cannot compete with China when it comes to making clothes, yet they still try to compete with them

It's your right to spend your money however you prefer. Myself, I decide to buy American made whenever possible. I do understand that alot of American companies produce products overseas, but at least the profit stays here.

If you agree in a persons right to spend their own money however they see fit, shouldn't you also agree competition is a good thing, no matter geography?

(otherwise none of us would not have the right to spend money how we want to)

Competition is a good thing. But, I won't buy or condone buying products that are blatantly stealing logos from a legit company that paid for the rights to that particular product. I'm not going to contribute to these scumbag business practices.

Like I said though......I couldn't care less what someone else does with their money.

It's kind of difficult to compete with a company who skirts the law by stealing logos and not paying for the rights to distribute the products.

I have a buddy who imports pro sports jerseys in China and sells them in North America for peanuts. He tells me that they are not really knock-offs since they are actually made in the same factories where the licensed merchandise is made. So in a sense they are authentic. He calls them factory seconds. After filling their official orders, the factories still have extra material so they keep making merchandise. They then sell this merchandise through more creative means. I got an NBA jersey for my son for about $20 and it seems to be the real deal.
