San Fransico starting pitcher Matt Cain is 9-9 3.00 ERA 1.10 WHIP is 0-3 in his last three outings and has dropped four out of five. Cain has only won 3 of 10 allowing 2 runs or fewer in seven games in that time span due to non existent run support as the Giants have scored 3 or fewer runs for Cain in 21 of his 25 starts over his career. Jair Jurrgens 12-4 2.64 ERA 1.14 WHIP will make his first start tonight coming back off the DL and after a stellar first half of the season has gone 0-1 6.26 ERA in four starts since mid July. Jurrgens gave up 15 runs in 17 Innings Pitched in this time span a portion of which was 6 Home Runs Allowed in his last three starts. Jurrgen's JuJu prior to the All Star Break now seems a question mark even with the knowledge that some of his numbers since mid July were the result of pitching through injury. The month of August has been Jurrgen's foe for he is 6-7 4.49 ERA, a full point higher than any other month, and has a losing record in that time frame. Jurrgens has won his last two versus San Fransico however with a 1.98 ERA. Tonight we will focus on Cain who has 130 + K's for the season to find the strikezone early and often and continue his trend of no Home Runs in his last three games. San Fransico must find answers for their poor run production and may be aided tonight with the return of players who have been out of action with injury. Jurrgens does indeed have the JuJu when it is working, but it has not been effective in some time combined with his performance trend in the month of August and coming back off injury tonight we will look to the San Fransico +1/2 -120 First Five Innings in expectaion of Jurrgens to simply possibly making mistakes and not being sharp first time back. Both games of this series have been close at the end of the fifth inning, so if Cain is Able to keep Braves off the bases we look to Ross and Sandoval hopefully to finally add some decent run support a confidence boost much needed at this time for a struggling yet still World Champions San Fransico Giants team. With the now massive number of Giants on the disabled list, they can barely put enough players on the field, have no bench left, and their relievers are very thin with Romo and Wilson out. Even if Cain were to pitch well tonight, I doubt that the make shift line-ups the Giants have put out these recent days will put up many runs. Unless Jurrgens is off his game, the Giants will be lucky to put up 2 runs IMHO.

Bases Loaded Walk but could have been worse. 1-1 after 1. If Sandoval could have just applied the tag. A game of inches indeed.

Cain struggling to find the strikezone with some at bats and then very effective in others.

Bourn with a nifty snag on the run to rob Sandoval of extra bases and possible Giants run. Again absolute inches.

Cain up to 5 K's on the night and somehow has kept the Braves from getting another run across the plate in some extremly tight jams.

Fucking sickening, what a POS team SF is. Burnt so much of my dollars over the weekend and earlier this week and now I go big on ATL and they blast me.

Finally you get some run support OMT. Even Cain gets in on the fun. Cody Ross delivers.

Even Joe Simpson Braves announcer said Jurrgens leaving the ball up in the zone making mistakes in DL return.
