The Lions so far this year have squandered close games with badly timed coverage lapses, shoddy tackling, and dropped balls that has left the Lions with their worst start in the Buono era at 1-6. Sound familiar? That’s because it happened last year too. Some slightly different circumstances last year as the Casey Printers experiment came to a sudden halt, and when Travis Lulay took over and led the Lions to a strong ending that saw them come within a few points of getting to the

Western Final, many were optimistic about the 2011 season.
While it’s been same old same old for the Lions, the criticism so far has escaped Lulay, as he’s put up decent numbers this season with a young receiving corps that have dropped a lot of balls. Last game however against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, Lulay had a season low 103 yards passing on 23 attempts. While every expects the rookie quarterback to have some bumps along the road, many have been optimistic with his signs of promise, but if this season continues to go down the drain, you can’t help but wonder how much of a leash Lulay will be on.
