Asked at Walmart yesterday and was told all HP tablets in a five county area (essentially the entire Tampa Bay region) were gone baby gone

Yep. This will be the case in most places. I'm sure some of these stock clerks are making sure to set a few aside for themselves and friends.

I just checked every electronics e-tailer I can think of and they are all out.
Wish I would have known about this earlier even though there will be no support for the app store which HP had there own OS.
Which means that other then wifi this tablet will become pretty useless in the not too distant future.

Think about this, as recently as 3 days ago HP was advertising these tablets every other commercial on TV.

And 3 days later they discontinue them and fire sale them?

Its hard to believe how inept the leadership is at HP not to have the slightest foresight, and just a slight ability to see just a few days into the future without blowing millions on a useless ad campaign.

Just checked Craigslist and all the assholes are re-selling them for $300. Funny thing most of the ads say "original price $500." We all know that is bullshit.

Yep. I found it comical watching the HP commercial for the touchpad @399.99 the day after the announcement.

Technically 499.99 is the listed retail, but you could always find them on-sale through a retailer for the 399.99 mark.

I have a friend at HP, just ask about them... was told that best buy and walmart will most likely be the only ones to get any more shipments, and that they are expecting them there... I was also told that HP may be putting them on their website throughout the day tomorrow.... will be $100 for 16gb and $150 for 32 GB

If you get one and I don't based on this information, I expect I can get one from you all right?

I just ask if you see them on Hp website tomorrow to PM me as soon as you do.. I would really like to get one....
