A few weeks back, I went in for a routine "oil change" at a local car dealership in So. Cal. Drove home for the night, which was a 50 mile trip....in the morning leave to take care of some biz, hit the freeway 2 miles up the road and suddenly my engine seizes up....

Had it towed to a local mechanic and to my surprise, found out the engine had NO OIL! The young man at the dealership drained the old oil and forgot to fill the beeyatch up with the new stuff!

Long story short, the dealership owned up to the mistake and provided an engine of slightly more value (less miles than the one I had).

Been a crazy couple of weeks :ohno:

That sucks! When I started reading, I thought you were going to say your hood flew open on the freeway! I've had that happen! It was like Tommy Boy (the movie)!

I had something similar happen to me when I was moving to Texas from Vermont.

I had the oil changed right before I started the 2100 mile drive, and I got halfway and I noticed oil dripping from all over the engine. The first mechanic
to look at it said he thought the engine was blown. I had it towed to the dealer, and it turns out that the guy who changed the oil didn't put the
oil filter on right, and oil was spraying all over the engine. The good news was, all I needed was a deep clean of the engine. But it cost me
$200 in towing costs and a day wasted.

years ago this happened to me too...i went on a job site and didn't realize I bottomed out and cracked the oil pan...

started driving down the highway...and the car started shaking like a whore in church...

I told the insurance co. I hit something on the highway...

the car was a total loss....got full value for the car though...

A friend of mine went in for an oil change with her fairly new car working fine. After about a month it started to burn through gas like crazy. Another month later and she was getting just 5 miles a gallon when she should get 20. Brings it in to a different shop. They tell her she had a hole in the gas line and whoever punctured it just wrapped electrical tape around it... so she had been leaking gas everywhere. Of course the joint that changed the oil claimed innocence...

Just seems a little different to me...totally understand that mistakes can happen and we are all human beings...but the "main component" of an oil change is the OIL!!

How can one getting paid to do a job leave out the most important part of his DAILY function? :think2:

In the future, think I will give the little guy a chance..being that this was a large reputable auto dealership in So. Cal. Just glad they came correct.

Not cool man :nono5:

A lot of companies show you the dipstick when they re-fill the engine with oil.
