In the past I was never qualified to give an answer, but in the last 2 years I have been to most regions in the U.S at least once.

I still cant find anything better(or even as good as) then right here in Louisiana where I live.

Creole/cajun cooking.

Crawfish
gumbo
oysters
boudin

Anything seafood.

I do like some of the texmex near the Texas/Mexico boarder.
I also like the Chicago style Pizza's.
And I like the bbq in the midwest which is one of the few shortcoming's in Louisiana.

But when you add it all together I just cant find the vast selection of so many great foods that we have here in Louisiana.

The worst eating in the U.S is around the Kentucky/Indiana area.
I dont think these people even know what salt and pepper is.

Its brutal.
Cant believe they even have fat people in Southern Indiana. LOL

The south has the best food. Lots of salt, lots of butter, lots of spices, lots of deep fried crunchiness...everything that you love (sans the heartburn and high blood pressure).

No less the 30 places to get Cajun Creole in the city .............Granted it may not be as good .........But try and get Veal Spiedini in NO .....
Each part of the country has its own special food IMO .....Good Steaks ? Omaha ........Good Cajun ..........NO ......But the bigger Cities give you as taste of everything ........IMO

New York has the best food not only in US but in the world. When you start from Italian food (not talking about the tourist traps), to BBQ or pizza (Angelo's pizza in midtown), to Russian (Tatiana) to French cuisine (try Brick in Astoria) or Greek/Balkan (All over Astoria)...oh god I miss it so much

No offense, but the Creole food in NY is not even on the same planet as the real thing.
That would be like comparing Pizza Hut to New York's finest Pizza joint.
