At the time of this writing, the following Match Odds/Moneyline were available: Chicago White Sox (2.74, +174) and Detroit Tigers (1.47, -213)

Tigers are 39-19 as favorites, while the White So are 3-13 in Danks’ last 16 Friday starts.

Chicago finds itself five games out in the AL Central division behind this weekend’s opponent and the entire clubhouse knows the situation at hand. The White Sox weren’t very happy about losing a 7-6 contest to end a series against the Minnesota Twins Wednesday night before enjoying an off day. “Obviously, two out of three is going to help,” stated White Sox starting pitcher Jake Peavy. “At some point in time, we have to beat them three games to have a chance to climb back.” The club has still managed to win five of its last six games and is the only team in the league with a winning road record, but a losing mark at home. Chicago is 30-30 this season when playing a team with a winning record.

White Sox starting pitcher John Danks is 6-9 with a 3.63 ERA and is scheduled to make his 23rd start of the season. He owns a 2.03 ERA since June 6, which is the fifth-lowest mark in the AL and ninth-lowest in baseball over that span. The left-hander will be making his 14th lifetime start against the Tigers, bringing in a 4-5 mark and 3.95 ERA, including a 1-3 record and 5.53 ERA at Comerica Park. Danks earned the win on July 27 versus Detroit at U.S. Cellular Field, giving up a single run and six hits over six frames.
