Anytime a team can go 3 games without scoring, hard to call it a lock.
Lincecum can only do so much. Last time he had to drive in his own game winning run. Tough to count on the Giants O.

For the record, the Giants have scored zero runs in 10 of Lincecum's starts this year. I hope they win, but certainly no lock by any means.

From Champs to Chumps....The Giants play with no lack of urgencey or intrest. I guess being WS Champs and being featured like Rock Stars on their reality show made them forget they are baseball players.

Is this a joke?

Buster Posey, out for the year.
Freddy Sanchez, out for the year.
Pablo Sandoval, Brian Wilson, Jonathan Sanchez, Nate Schierholtz, Andres Torres, Carlos Beltran, plus almost every other important player on this club spent some--often considerable--amounts of time on the DL. The fact that they'll finish over .500 is a testament to their guts and determination. Few other teams could have or would have been able to pull that out given what the Giants had to work with.

Love these threads, they are always money makers. I took out a second mortgage and bet the other side. Thank you.

All due respect but you can look at most rosters and see the same amount of injuries. I will absolutely give you Posey for the year. That was a bad loss. Look at the Braves and the Phils, they have lost of lot of players as well. Braves have lost Hanson, Jones, Heyward, McCann, Prado, Jurrjens, McLouth. Phils have lost Utley, Oswalt, Victorino, Rollins, Polanco, Hamels, Madson just to name a few.

No, actually, you can't look at most rosters and see the same amount of injuries. The Giants have had 25 trips to the DL this year. The Red Sox led the majors with 24 trips last year. For every four times the Phillies have sent someone to the DL, the Giants have sent five. For one game in Atlanta the Giants had two position players on the bench for the entire game becasue of injuries. There is no comparison. The 2011 Giants suffered more from injuries than maybe any team I've ever seen. I am not alone in this belief.

Don't forget, a big reason the Giants made it past the Braves last year in the playoffs was because they had multiple huge injuries. Any time you have your AAA utility guy starting for you at 2B or 3B (Conrad), you're in trouble.

The Giants benefited from other teams injuries last year....and this year it's them that's injured.
