A woman sat next to her boyfriend’s body for nine hours after he choked to death on an in-flight meal.
Vanessa Preechakul and Robert Rippingale were on an 11-hour flight from Singapore to Auckland when tragedy struck.

Mr Rippingale, 31, was taking Miss Preechakul, a 27-year-old architect, to meet his parents and explore his native New Zealand.

An hour and a half into the flight with Jetstar, a low budget subsidiary of Qantas, the crew began serving dinner. Mr Rippingale chose a beef dish and was eating it while watching an in-flight movie.

Miss Preechakul said she noticed him shaking, but did not realise anything was wrong. ‘I thought he was laughing very hard,’ she said. ‘Then I looked at his face and his eyes were rolling and he couldn’t talk. His lips were turning purple.’

A doctor and two nurses among the passengers went to help after hearing Miss Preechakul’s screams. Mr Rippingale, who had been living and working in Singapore for three years, was carried to the galley where the medical team performed CPR, but were unable to save him.

That has to be the most horrific feeling in the world, to be on the receiving end. I was playing Golf at Riviera about 10 years ago. It was on a Golf trip. We got out about seven holes and i put a steel ball marker in my mouth. Don't ask me why, didn't even realize it.As i walked off i stumbled and the marker went into my throat with the sharp end against my esofugus.I immediately lost all air passage and was making hand motions to anyone to notice, finally a caddie noticed and starting running all around. He was screaming and there wasn't anyone around. The playing partners were talking about cutting my throat and nobody had a knife, i knew this was it unless i did something, the thing not only was cutting my air off, but the pain of the sharp end sticking me was killing me.I was turning blue and about to pass out and i grapped my throat and started pushing hard with my fingers working it up. I fell to my knees and it fell out. My throat was cut and bleeding and i had to stop playing. I don't put anything else sharp in my mouth.Scaed the s=== out of me.
