Shaping up to be quite a race. Halladay, Kennedy, Kershaw and Lee. Lee with six complete game shutouts is impressive.

I think the fact that Kershaw plays for sub-500 ball club will hurt his chances. History only 12 pitchers have won the award while pitching for a sub-500 team. I also think Lee and Halladay could split the votes which could hurt both. You have to also consider the East Coast bias from the writers which will hurt Kennedy as well as Kershaw. Lots of variables involved.

Personally I'd say Halladay over Lee. While Lee has flashed dominace Halladay has been more consistent. Agree Kershaw is going to be hurt by Dodgers play. If I were betting on it I'd say Doc wins Kershaw 2nd, Lee, Kennedy

I'd hope so. Kershaw's rolling with no attention & pressure on him, though.

The guy who deserves it is Kershaw. I belive he has the best ERA in the NL, although I could be wrong, but I know his ERA is better than DOc.
I mean Kershaw might win 20 games which is miraculous given that he pitches for the dogsh!t dodgers. Getting 20 wins on a team so bad is a miracle and deserves the award. IF you gave it to Felix last year, gotta give it to Kershaw this year.

Are we really using era and wins as the factors we decide who wins now days? Lets at least go for metrics that seem better FIP, Siera to compare Kershaw has a 2.44fip and 2.67 siera for while Doc has an insane 2.12 fip and 2.54 Siera. I maybe wrong but not sure anyone really had those kind of numbers in the AL facing Felix for competition. No matter who wins 1 and 2 are Kershaw and Doc in my mind though either way. One thing I will say I'm very impressed that Kershaw has dropped his walks about a 1.5/9 and a key reason he is mentioned for the CY award because if he was sitting at the 3.5 or so it wouldn't even be a debate.

what attention and pressure is on a starter that knows his team is blowing away everyone and that if he fucks up, well, the next day a guy just as good takes the mound?

by that estimation no philly pitcher should be considered

Well I think the thought was more along the lines of what is Kershaw pitching for? Doc and those Philly pitchers are a huge reason they are one of if not the favorite to win a championship this year. Kershaw is pitching on a team that is fighting for 3rd in the NL West and to finish .500
