so I want to know how many people would vote for verlander for mvp. Ya I know he is a pitcher and not an everday guy but when he is on the mound the tigers win and no one in the league has been as consistent as he has been the guy deserves it he is a work horse

oh he is a lock for cy young but he should be a strong thought for mvp what hitter can you say is more valuable to his team than verlander is for the tigers you take verlander away from the tigers and they lose those games verlander starts

Die-hard Tigers and Verlander fan -- and I have to agree with Betallsports. Cy Young, absolutely deserves that, and should win it hands down. He's been unreal, without question.

Don't think he'll end up with the MVP, and I'm fine with that. I feel that award should go to an every day player.

As others have said, Verlander is a sure lock for the Cy Young. I hope he wins all the starts he has left, and pitch shutouts in the playoff. However I think the only way for Veralnder to win the MVP, he'll have to pitch another no hitter or a perfect game. Verlander will have to set himself apart even more from other pitchers like Weaver, Shield and etc. Plus with the kind of year Granderson, Micheal Young, A-Gon, and Joey Bats are having, Verlander simply needs to outright extremely dominate. I would sure like to see that though, and I hope Verlander continues to pitch well through out his career.

i agree...but they realllllly should rename the award of MVP most VALUABLE player because verlander IS the most valuable player on the tigers without him that team is not in 1st place...take agonz off red sox, take granderson off yankees and both of those teams are still around where they are now... but the award is made for everyday players and verlander contributes once every 5 days there is no reason to let him have both awards he deserves the cy young over any pitcher in the AL but not he MVP, let that stick with the everyday players.... but if i do recall a few years ago mariano rivera did get 3rd in the MVP voting, so verlander will get some votes

He DEFINITELY deserves it! But won't win it.

This kinda cool, Verlander barely behind in the eye of the public for MVP.

Who has been the American League s Most Valuable Player? I just saw this on ESPN
Jose Bautista
( 13% )
Curtis Granderson
( 36% )
Jacoby Ellsbury
( 6% )
Adrian Gonzalez
( 9% )
Dustin Pedroia
( 1% )
Justin Verlander
( 35% )

if those polls are what they are made out to be then i hope he can pull it off cuz as mlink said he is the most valuable player on his team hands down take him away and the indians win that division. You have 3 guys ont he redsox who are in contention also and take one of those guys away and you dont notice a differencr really in the lineup and same with the yanks and granderson so why not
