not exactly what I was hunting for here....

http://www.sheppardsoftware.com/states_experiment_drag-drop_Intermed_State15s_500.html

My concept is that an a well educacated person like a Doctor, Lawyer, Engineer, Senator , etc. would fail to identify the 50 states by name given a table sized map and a crayon and 30 minutes to do it....as a pop quiz.

I'd fail to get 100 %! Everything West of the Miss River would be easy, and everything on the Eastern Seaboard from Maine to Fla.... It Would be those states just East of The Miss River that would be my problem area.....Let me study that for 10 minutes, and I'm good then !

I doubt many west coasters know the difference between NH and VT. ...so If I'm in LA and need a DDS, I don't want their geography grades from colledge, before they drill ! ( LOL).

I don't want the dentist to be be able to fill in the country names of a blank African "planchet" or whatever you call it.....fill the damn cavity, Dr. Payne !

Wife pisses me off with stupid constant questions, everytime she hears something on the news... Doug, where is Virginia, Maine, Georgia, California....What's the temperature there ?

no concept that that Ca Is 800 mi N/S, or that Maine is North of Ct and should be Cooler on average, or that the Pacific Ocean is like 3,000 miles away in San Diego, just honestly clueless .....

no grasp that that Hartford to Orlando is like a 20 hour drive....even after doing it with once.

Well driving to SD is like 3k miles..... Cheese and rice !

I'd be scared to see what my girlfriend would do on that map quiz. I guarantee her 8 year old would do better.

If you think that's bad, yesterday I told a Thai lady that Canada is beside the USA, but she wouldn't believe me and was sure it was in Europe.

As a long time geography buff it amazes me when I hear people think they know where say Europe is on a globe or map and then point to Australia for just one example. I used to (a bit rusty now) be able to recite all 50 states with their capitols alphabetically backwards.

You start with Wyoming, capitol Cheyenne and in order get to Alabama, capitol Montgomery without making a mistake. I could still give it a whirl but no doubt someplace like South Carolina or Missouri would trip me up..

I know I can in a split second each find all 50 state capitols on a map of the US. Not bad at World Geography either...

you guys should know just to not look like dumb asses in front of the rest of the World (Americans sadly have reputation for not knowing where anything is , despite the fact that you guys have military bases pretty much everywhere and have been at war ....pretty much in every continent too)

as a tourist.....been to many states in the US and the only ones I have little clue about are the tiny ones (on "top right")

as a superpower I believe US citizens should be able to know a little bit of history (even if biased...hey we know the winners write the history books) and a little bit of geography

I really don't understand why being ignorant is even fashionable these days......

This is the one area of study I wish I knew more about. I've always been terrible with geography.
