I love watching UFC. It's one of my favorite things to watch although I admit Im just a fan and by no means an expert...

This is my favorite weight class, I get light heavy weight title fights.

I was pissed when I saw this PPV. Why is it Rampage and not Suga Evans??...

Evans beat Rampage convincingly... So why does Rampage get the reward of the title fight and not Evans. Evans hasn't lost since 09 and is 16-1-1 All time...

I dont understand it...

I like all 3 of the fighters but I just want to make sense of this. Evans more deserving IMO.

im guessing cause evans just came back last fight after a lay off. rampage fought a lil while ago to "earn" his title fight. im pretty sure evans gets next title fight whom ever it might be against.

It was supposed to be Jones vs. Evans but Jones got hurt and thought he needed surgery. Evans took a fight with Phil Davis instead of waiting. Davis got hurt and Evans ended up beating Tito Ortiz. Anyway, after the Davis/Evans fight was already made, Jones decided against surgery and declared himself ready to go. Since Evans was just a few weeks out from his fight and probably didn't want to screw up his training camp that was already going, Rampage got the title shot.

Just to add, because Jake and Matty covered it, but Jones vs Rampage is also a much better fight than Jones vs Evans. Jones will have the ability to take Page down and pound him out, but Page has the ability to knock out (anyone) Jones on the feet. Page doesn't have the wrestling ability to neutralize the takedown as Rashad does, but he'll try to keep Jones at bay and catch him coming in.

Evans vs Jones, on the other hand, has the potential to be a snooze fest. Evans can neutralize the takedown and has the elusiveness on the feet not to get destroyed on the feet, but Jones will likely use his range to jab him to death for five rounds. It's GSP vs Kos #2.

Cowboy I respect your insight.. but I rather see an stand up fight... plus Rampage just looked so bad against Evans (last time I saw him) I don't know if I can trust him to perform in a title fight and $50 PPV

I've read numerous reports of Jones NOT wanting to fight Evans at the time. When they used to be training partners Evans would throw him around a lot.

Times have changed since then but looking forward to that fight next.

Good Stuff.... I like Rampage, and I may be rooting for him in this fight, but I want to see Jones vs Evans too bad.. so I gotta go against Rampage...

Whats the line on this fight?

Rampage has not knocked out anyone in 3 years... his last KO was 2008. If you saw his last 3 fights they were 2 snoozer decisions and 1 loss...

I love Rampage (the old one) more than anyone but he isnt that guy anymore. He will never have the chance to KO Jones...He had a hard time with Matt Hammill who is also way past his prime... Page is a showman and sells tickets but this is his last major fight unofrtunately...

a legend in the sport but this is going to be like Clubber Lang Vs Apollo Creed

Anyone thinking that Rampage can have a mini comeback like Tito had? one last stint or is there just no gas left in his tank?

Sorry to pick up the old thread, but I've been away for a few days (no football).

To Defying: Yeah, most want to see a stand-up fight, unless there is no finish. Jon Jones is 6'3"; Rashad is 5'9". Rashad is (arguably) a better wrestler, but Jones will jab him for 25 minutes to keep him away. Rampage, on the other hand, can't stop Jones' takedown. His only chance will be to catch him coming in. Otherwise, Jones will take him down and finish him. Jones-Page will be a better fight because Page has maybe 5-10% of a chance to knock out Jones before he takes Page down and pounds him out.

To GoBlue: Jones doesn't have a choice and neither does Evans and neither does Rampage. If it makes money for the UFC, Dana makes it happen. Evans may be a better wrestler than Jones and in a pure grappling match, I would favor Evans. But he's not long enough to get inside on Jones. His shot would have to come from waaaay out to happen.

gmen: I agree, but the KO is still what Page is looking for and will be his gameplan for Jones. He will lose, but his only chance is to knock Jones out.

Mr_Mark: Probably not. Tito vs Bader was the perfect storm. Bader was overrated and got caught. There's always a puncher's chance, but it is highly unlikely.
