BOSTON RED SOX -142 over TORONTO
Wakefield v. Morrow
I don't subscribe to the 'he's due' theory, but he's due, but since I don't subscribe to that theory, it's not a factor as to why I'm using the Red Sox as my play of the day.
Wake matches up well in this spot tonight.
Toronto's big boy bats can't hit Wakefield, they don't like the dancing flutter ball, not Bautista, (3 for 13 .231, no HR) not the hot shot power hitting catcher Arencibia, Not Adam Lind 3 for 16 .188.
The only hitter in their line up that hits the knuckler is the short stop Escobar.
Overall the Jays are 31 for 128 (.242) as a collective group off of Wakefield.
More importantly the Jays on base percentage overall is .298
He doesn't walk the Jays, and they don't hit him
On the flip side, the Red Sox hit Morrow like a rented mule.
These number can not be ignored.
Ellsbury is 6 for 13 lifetime (.462) versus Morrow with 2 homers off the starter.
Papi Ortiz 6 for 14 lifetime (.429) versus Morrow, also 2 homers off the starter.
Adrian Gonzalez 5 for 12 lifetime (.417) versus Morrow
Dustin Pedroia 7 for 15 lifetime (.467) versus Morrow, 1 homer off the starter
Marco Scutaro (starting SS tonight) is 6 for 10 (.600) off the starter.
The comparison here side by side is overwhelming.
Sox hit Morrow to the tune of .321(43-134) with an astonishing on base percentage of .449
(or in other words Sox batters gets on base 45 percent of the time off of Morrow)
That's a lot of base runners.
.449 oba versus .298 is huge advantage here
142 gets 100, it's not a lot of juice for the pissed off Red Sox, believe me, the bats will destroy Morrow at HOME, who want nothing more than to get Wake's 200th in front of their fans.
THIS WILL BE ONE SERIOUS BLOW OUT
Sox 11-2
142 gets 100
