Morrison was one of the greatest writers in the business ever.
Manzerak was a tremendous keyboardist, not quite Emerson or Wakeman, but one of the best never the less.
Krieger was an underrated guitarist, and Densmore was steady on drums.
Forgot who played bass.

Elevator music, two or three tunes, but hardly elevator music.

One of the top 15 or so greatest bands of all time, one of the top 5 US bands of all time.

doug lubahn played bass on the first few records to beef up the backbeat that the fender rhodes bass keyboard of manzarek's couldn't provide on tape...lonnie mack played on the morrison hotel and jerry sheff plays the timeless/haunting bassline on 'riders on the storm'

A lot of their music is extremely mellow, I like the harder stuff like "Roadhouse Blues", great stoner music, but a lot of it could actually, be played in a nursing home. I know Doors' music very well, like "The soft Parade" is soft. I know Morrison was not intending to be soft.

Skynyrd did some soft stuff like, "The ballad of Curtis Loew", even GNR did a couple of elevator tunes, the Who as well.

There is no band like the Doors, but a 75 year old Granny could easily like "Touch me" and more of their stuff, lots of Morrison stuff is soft.

"Peace Frog" is a great one, for sure.

This is probably my favorite, although I like almost all of 'em...

I got exposed to stuff like Jim Croce as a wee lad in the 70's, didn't like it then, but I do now.

Stuff like Billy Joel in the early 80's was a cool comprimise if I had to be in the same car with my Mom. Maybe Bob Seger, but that leans too far my way, Croce was fine, but I didn't appreciate him until later on.

I think there is a genre of music that works for a large segment of society ( I'm almost 48). Too appeal to and not offend said guests at a 25 ish wedding...some 70's Eagles music should work for those 20-80 yo, and Doors, Sinatra, etc.....You could basically play Hotel California...and be cool with all guests, IMO.

Cranking up some "Talking Heads" is not cool, but a more subtle mix works....

What I'm suggesting is like a good acoustic guitar player at your wedding reception, that can play a wide range of stuff ( take requests ?...that adds a WOW fun factor ! ).

If I'm a guest and ask the the guy to play ..."Johnie B Goode" and he nails it, everybody wins, and he gets toked.

If I ask him to play something really obscure after that, and he does it, nails it....maybe $10 in the tip cup....has to be a rare tune, that the performer should not know.

I love live acts.

Now you did it.
The biggest Talking Heads fan here.

How can you NOT crank this up.

Poor Tina, she has to run like 5 miles in place with that 100 lb. bass strapped to her.

If you've never seen this clip, it's one of a kind
