I think it was good for everyone. Squares get their entertainment, sharps get their numbers, and books get the bigger hold.

I'm Up in the air on this one.

It can go both ways..... Internet has given players more 'Ready' Info
and Players that have a line Service .....Looking for Moves. But in the same sense The "man" has been helped as well by this.

So I say it could go either way.

exactly...no way possible i would even think about taking bets from 300 or 400 people now compared to then, you could easily make 100k per week with what you had...don't even think i could come remotely close to that now...the players by far get my vote...in the old days you could "fix" your line and make them play into you with bad numbers and get by with it rather easily...with the internet all it takes is one guy in the know to come in and take all of your money you booked and more with the bad number...

I personally think it helped the man more. I think more squares were able to access a book this way.

gotta disagree. The mafia got more organized..able to rig specific games easier. On a psychological level though may have helped the player more cuz he couldnt lose more than what he had (deposited)..but it was so much easier too to deposit when offshore and internet gaming first came out too. Oh yeah..and cant forget the rigged online casinos. Yeah Id say online gaming has been more detremental to the payer, as a common whole average, for sure

As a book it is much harder to make money. There is way to much info on the internet. The poor gamblers are better because of all the info.
