I went out to Barona casino here in San Diego to play some live poker around 5pm. On my 3rd hand of the night... again this is live poker ... I got blindsided on a $300 pot. I ended up chasing that loss most of the night and when I left the poker room at 10:30 pm I was down $800. Not a good night for live poker.
So on the way out I see a video poker machine and for the hell of it I try $100 on the "deuces wild" game. About 20 minutes into playing I hit 4 deuces which pays out 1k (jackpot #1). It was perfect... the 1k covered my poker losses for the night and gave me a little profit. Of course... as a degenerate gambler I hada smile on my face and headed to blackjack. About 2 hours later... the 1k is GONE. I was pissed and decided to leave.
On the way out I passed another row of video poker machines and I honestly just went to look at the payouts since they were different machines. I noticed this row of machines had a game the other one did not. Called "loose deuces" in which 4 deuces pays out 2.5k rather than the 1k I won earlier. I sat down and took a shot... lo and behold... about 30 minutes into playing on a $100 bill buy in... I hit the 4 deuces for $2500. Bam !! Now I am redemmed and just happy as shit. Up $$ for the night and I have never ever hit a jackpot on any video poker games before this. Two in one night?? Hell yea!
So it's now around 3:45 am and I am hungry. I ask the cashier cage if any eateries are open. the dude points me in the direction to go. i head over into a side of the casino I've never been in before. The eatery has no take out, so I decide to just leave instead of eat. But wait. on this side of the casino that's new to me there are yet a third different type of video poker machines. I just start casually paging thru the payout screens to see what's avail. i find this game called "shockwave" that pays out 4k for 4 of a kind. So what the hell... I deposit $100 and give it a go. I kid you not... within 5 minutes of playing I hit my 3rd jackpot of the night. this time it's not quads... it's a natural royal flush for 4k. I held 4 cards and did my draw looking for the ace of diamonds.. It was like the twilight zone... There was a breif pause before the machine showed the card and when it was doing that nano second extra pause... I KNEW it was coming.
I am now home - up 7.5k from video poker. Holy shit. I am not sure what to think. I don't even play video poker that much. But I don't see how I am going to stay away from these machines moving fwd. What a night!
