I'm rooting against this for Kemp. Nothing personal for the guy but it's been so long since someone did this I'd rather see it from a real proven superstar. Maybe Kemp will be that type of player but as it stands he is a talented player just having a career year. Not to mention that it is a super down year for offense and hot numbers would not even be that impressive.. 330 avg is very low to league league.. 38hrs and 120 rbi normally wouldn't be league leading type of stats. Pujols puts up triple crown numbers like that every year. As have many other players.

When it finally happens I want some real triple crown numbers. 350 / 48 / 140

this is also happening to the lowly Dodgers who have had tons of distractions off the field. also they have a viable CY Young winner in Kershaw.

Are you serious with this comment? Or joking?

great range
Great range?

He's next to last in the NL out of regular, everyday center fielders when it comes to range factor.
Only Victorino has less range.

Zone Rating, same thing, next to last.

McCutchen, hands down is the best defensive center fielder in the NL

No doubting Braun and Kemp are the best hitters in the league this year, but let's not carried away with Kemp's defense, or lack of it.
On Kemp's behalf, he does have 11 outfield assists

There are so many things wrong with Ladeda's comment I wonder if he was actually serious.. Sometimes you can't tell.

Real triple crown numbers?
Those are fantasy triple crown numbers.
Mantle did that once, but he had a 1 in a 100 year season.

I was serious with my response. Hope it's done during a truly great year, not when all the stats are down cause the best players had off years. Kemps stats this year in those categories wouldn't even rank in the top 50 offensive seasons of the last 20 years. Not too mention he plays for a bad time and isn't feared or pitched around like the other great hitters, although that might change obviously. I have no problem with the guy, he should win the MVP this year and deserves it. But it would be a shame for the long triple crown drought to end with a guy hitting 325 with 38 hr and 120 rbis.

Similar to the last triple crown when Yaz got it, wasn't on overly impressive year for stats that year. In the meantime there have been years when guys hit .330+ 40/130+ and not got the triple crown since, lots by players on juice, others not on it.

Not too mention the main competition in each category would be well ahead and this wouldn't even be talked about if it wasn't for injuries.

Average- Reyes was way ahead before getting hurt, now barely ahead.

Home Runs- Pujols missed a few weeks or would be well ahead

RBI - Howard was ahead as of a couple weeks ago until he started sitting out most games since Phils have everything locked up

If Kemp wins it it will be truly through the backdoor. Like a runner runner flush in poker after getting it in with the worst or set over set.

for the comments that say offense is down this year. why cant we just say that pitching is better this year. or guys are afraid to juice. ill say this, i did not watch any baseball this year as i was just not into as normal so i really have no facts behind my arguments. solely comments from the peanut gallery from me on this topic.

Coulda shoulda woulda game. reyes would not of kept up that pace with those additional ab's

pujols has holliday behind him and kemp has loney behind him. Give kemp help and he has more hr's

Give kemp 1/4 of the offense howard has with the phils and he has 145 rbis by now.

Ladeda,

How about the fact that Kemp plays 81 games in a pitchers park with a heavy marine layer?

You are treating Kemp like some "one year wonder" instead of what he really is. A great young player who was always very good and always had immense potential. Anyone who has followed his career knew this was possible, the kid does it all.
