WTF is with All the Fuking Previews ??

There must have been 20+ Minutes of Previews ???

If they say a Movie STARTS at 7PM, then it should Start at 7PM

Has this been the norm for a while ??

I watch Most movies online or Cable, so wasn't use to 20+ Minutes of Previews

I rarely go to movies nowadays, and this is one reason why. It has been like this for a while now. If a movie is supposed to start at 7:30, my old lady and I know we can safely get to our seats at 7:45 and not miss anything besides previews. The only problem is finding seating, but so many theaters out here now have assigned seating so it isn't that big of a deal anymore.

And yes, I don't like to pay for the privelage of being advertised to...it's the same reason I hate opening a DVD and pressing play, but before I can get to the main feature, I have to watch a few seconds of some other dumb DVD they are trying to peddle. In the theater, I find it incredibly annoying to sit through ads about being a good samaritan, not using your cell phone during the movie, seeing local businesses take up ad space on the screen, seeing flying gummy bears, and then seeing half a dozen upcoming release previews before finally getting what I paid for. This isn't the 80s anymore where you had to wait to see what was playing by looking in the newspaper. If I really want to know what movies are around the corner, I'll just go find a site about upcoming flicks.

Your theaters have assigned seating? None ive ever been to in the MD area have that. Also around here they tend to make the promos about having your phone off etc pretty funny. I guess if you go a lot, it gets annoying. I just think all of it builds up the anticipation for the movie and is the experience. If i just wanted to watch the movie, i would just download it and watch on my laptop or tv(which is what i usually do). But if im making the trip to the theater, i am going to get there early, overpay for popcorn, candy, and an icee, and then enjoy the previews and movie. Also-with paying to be advertised to, that has taken over this society. Everything you do there is some kind of ad or sponsor that no one cares about and it couldn't be more annoying but i guess they got to make there money?

lol, well to make a long story Short.....

In the past 6 months I have re-done the House... Knocking down walls, building a Home Office, New TV's, New this, New that, etc...

So when I hooked up the New TV's, I didn't hook up the DVD players.
My wife's friend comes over last weekend with a Copy of "The Help"

So the wife asks me to hook up one of the DVD players... I try to hook one up, but I'm missing a wire/cable ( think it was an S cable ) whatever..... so No DVD
being that it is a weekend... ( Football ! ) I said i would go buy a new S cable on Monday and you can watch your movie then.
Of course I said if I Don't get one, I'll take her to the Movies to see it

Guess what happened ? :)

I thought it was a Good Movie, good acting and good Story line ( based on a True Story )

I felt that they left some info out... being that it was based in the South
( Mississippi ) the Civil Rights, etc... But figured the Movie is based on the Maid's and it happened just before or around the Start of the Civil Right's movement.
or should I say Killings........

I thought Emma Stone was Great. so was Byrce dallas Howard ( Ron Howards daughter )
The one that played the lead Viola Davis was very very Good. and the one that played Minny was Funny as hell !

Even though Sissy Spacek had a semi-small part, she was so Funny in a few parts that I think I hurt myself laughing !

Overall I thought the Movie was very Good. Is it a Chick Flick ?? Don't really think it was..... But it's Not something I would say to my Friends.... Hey you want to go Catch "The Help" ??

Took my 3 year old boy to see Cars2 the other weekend. First movie experience with him so was hesitant. He sat fine threw the 9000 previews than the movie started and he said "Daddy I done". Never saw the movie and spent like 18 bucks. Damn previews.

Hmmm. I'm actually a pretty big fan of the previews, especially when I'm out to the movies with just my wife. But "Daddy I Done" hits home as it can be tough to take a little guy to the movies with everything that happens, including potty breaks, etc.

As for assigned seating - not in Buffalo. Also I swear that our Regal Theater has a cell phone blocking device installed as my phone gets no signal most of the time when I'm in the theater.

I live in L.A and have been to all the major movie chains around here and have never heard of it, I'm curious too.

Love the all the Pub theaters we have here in Portland where I can go see a classic movie or a 2nd run new movie
and only have two or three minutes of previews if even that before the movie starts. The twenty plus minutes of
ads and previews at the multi-plexes are a little too much.

You know what really pisses me off about DVD's? It seems more and more of them are starting to make them where you can't fast forward through the previews. I hate watching that crap.

That's why I love my DVR, no commercials.
