Postseason Chase

Last year, the Rangers and Rays completed a post season series in which the home team lost every game. According to USA Today's longtime baseball writer Paul White, it was baseball's "first postseason series without a win by a home team." And they've been playing postseason baseball for over 100 years.

That's the idea behind this chase. In each of the upcoming 7 postseason series, we will be chasing the home team to win one unit. It won't matter who the home team is or where the game is being played. We will chase the series until the home team wins. Once that happens, the chase is over and we pocket our 1 unit profit.

Briefly here's how it will work. Let's say in game one, the home team is -150 to win 100 on the moneyline. if the home team wins, great! We're up 100 and for our purposes the series is over. if the home team loses, we go on to game 2. Now we need to wager enough to win our 100 + the 150 we lost in game 1. We keep that up until we have a home team win.

There are drawbacks. You may have to lay a considerable amount of money if a series goes long. We may in some cases be backing heavy favorites, particularly in the early series. A way around this is to reduce your unit size. A $100 bettor may wish to cut it down to $50 or less.

By the way, the Tampa - TX series last year was best of 5, meaning that in more than a century of play, there has NEVER been a 7 game series in which the home team has not won at least 1 game.

There are no locks! This is not a sure thing! But with 100 years of history, I like my odds here. I will post plays later this week.

plays for 30-Sept. Since it doesn't matter who is pitching, these are all action bets. Odds from heritage...

Yankees -176/100, game 1
Rangers -130/100, game 1

WOOPS! I transposed those odds! Still bet the two teams listed, but the odds I listed above each belong to the other team...sorry for any confusion.

The original bet on the Yankees-Tigers series, game 1, was cancelled by Heritage after the game was suspended. Thus, this series becomes a "no-play."

Well, now...that was easy! We pick up 3 units profit as the home team wins game one in two series (Brewers and Phils) and game two in another (Texas). Again, the suspension in the NY-Det series caused that to become a "no-play." That wraps up the system as far as division play is concerned. Back with plays in the league championship series prior to both game ones!

i was unable to post during the early portion of the LCS, but had you bet according to the system rules above, you would have picked up two more units profit, both on the first game of the chase. All that's left is the World Series. If possible I will post prior to the first game...

If you combine these 2 systems, betting the home team run line, the last time it would not win was 1996. That year the first home win didn't come until the game 6 series clincher when the Yankees beat the Braves 3-2.

The Cards' win means our post season chase for this year is over. It couldn't have been much easier. Six series, and every chase was won by the completion of the second game (a seventh series was a no-play because the first game was suspended).

An editorial comment, if I may. After more than a dozen years of online betting, I've decided to quit. I've been thinking about this ever since The Greek dropped all its U.S. customers and shoved them over to Heritage. No complaints so far, although I have not attempted to withdraw money. I will do so now and close my account. It's become obvious to me that because of government action, we in the U.S. may soon find that no legitimate book wishes to have us as customers--it just won't be worth it for them. I fear the only choices for us may be the financially unsound books, or those that exist with the sole purpose of ripping us off. I also worry that the government is making it more difficult for me to have access to my winnings. At some point, I hope our lawmakers wake up to the fact that they are missing out on a consistent revenue stream. I would gladly pay a tax on my winnings if only they'd legalize and regulate. I think the owners of most legitimate books feel the same.

I enjoy participating on this forum, and have learned A LOT here, so I will continue to chime in from time to time. Best wishes to one and all!
