just got a pre approval letter for a Black Card..anyone have one? are the benefits worth the 475 annual fee?? APR is 14.5% ....3% on transfers with no interest for 1 year...

it says access to vip lounges in all airports and 24 hour concierge which is nice and cash back on purchases

You spend $50,000 or more per year on credit card purchases? I noticed that was one requirement for approval. If so, the $475 is a drop in the bucket.

paying 475$ a year ...LMFAO no way is that worth it

chase freedom card.... 1% cash back and every 3 months they have 5% categories .. ..I make 800$ a year on them and do not pay a dime of interest ..use it for everything

no annual fee

Gmen soon you will have 475$ from your perfect Roulette play to spend on it

APR means nothing if you pay your balance.

It all boils down to this.

Do you travel enough that it's worth 475 a year to get into the lounge pre flight and have a few drinks during happy hour?

I am sure the rewards for the black are the same as other top tier cards.

couple of years ago I got rid of 90% of all My Credit cards.
had way too much credit at one time... and sometimes too much is bad for you.

Had 13 cards in all ! kept the one of the Amex, and one Visa, and use my Debit card 99% of the time.

how do you check into a hotel or rent a car?

I have a debit/credit card with my credit union. It has the VISA logo on it. I pay cash for everything.

My mother is kinda ill. She has dementia.

I am thinking of signing her up for a slew of credit cards.

if she passes and there is a balance, and she has no estate, I get to keep the stuff.

right?

What if something happens and you can't pay it off every month? I'd rather just pay cash for everything and let the credit card companies stick them up their collective sorry asses.

well then your better off doing it your way.... as the last thing you want to do is not pay it off each month and losethe free money towards interest... that said, even if you went 1 month or 2 without paying full amount ... you still make money depends how much you charge....

been doing it for years.. but you have to be completely disciplined... its not for everyone your right ...there is real value if you can do it though as you see

ok so what i am getting from this is i can pretty much get the same benefits as far as cash back and rewards with a lesser "status" card and i can save on the annual fee...as far as the travel i think its very cool to have the lounge...i travel about 8x a year so that might be worth it...

thanks for the feedback...especially boatboat...that was particulalry helpful!!

The biggest perk you're getting, most likely, is the access to the airline lounges. If you travel a ton + travel on different airlines then this may be a good card for you.

Think about it this way. Delta club = $400 a year, United/Continental club = $300 a year + another $400 a year for the American Airlines Admiral club.

Or, you could get an AMEX Platinum, which not only gets you into the same clubs that this one does, but you also get $200 in "airline fees" back - effectively discounting the price of $400 a year in half, so you're only paying $200 a year for the airline clubs.

It really, really depends on your travel schedule.

In other words you're saying that you have no character, and you want to fuck some people over. Nice. Class act.

thanks Baccy...i do travel different airlines all the time so that is helpful info...i like the Amex plat fee rebate though..on the black card info they say they only offer this to 1% of the population...im definitely calling bullshit on that....i am certainly not in the top 1% of credit spenders

Boat / Zit,

I see this shit all the time come through my collection agency. Only problem to watch out for is that you may get a "bulldog" collector who investigates this shit or if somehow your mom ends up with "free legal aide clinic" where some hotshot lawyer looking to make a name for himself decides "its personal" and comes after you.

Most likely you'll get away with it, but there's a chance you'll get nailed. IMO it's not worth the risk.
