Sad Steve had to go thru all of this. There is much more important things for people to worry about, especially some team##)

not defending what happened to bartman, but the piece was made to make you feel bad for him. slanted piece that didnt tell the other side of the story.

What is the other side of the story? How the Cubs blew it?

that whole incident was exasperated b/c of alcohol and cell phones....nothing more nothing less....bunch of drunk meatballs getting calls from people home watching b/c they kept showing the reply over and over or outside the park saying it was his fault....it all just fed on each other....alou going bananas didnt help the situation either....bartman definitely hurt his team by going for the ball b/c i think alou makes the catch but.....
the guy who should have been hung was the SS Gonzalez, guy had the best fielding % in the NL or some shit and commits an error on a ROUTINE doubleplay

props to the guy for not cashing in on his blunder

I haven't seen the piece yet, but I heard that they analyzed the flight of the flyball, digitally removed the crowd, analyzed Alou and determined that he would have caught the ball without any interference? Was that the conclusion? That's pretty much what I think from watching the video many times. Looked like he had a perfect bead on it. Not to excuse any of the reactions, but it is probably true and it well could have changed the outcome (as could 100 other things as well) FWIW.

I do agree though, that it's easy to say that you would have backed off, but in reality in the heat of the moment, when you see a ball coming toward you the natural reaction is to reach for it. Given this case now though people sitting in front rows now are probably more aware of the situation.

They had a different view from the upper deck that proved inconclusive. Being a life-long cubs fan, I never knew what the cubs had to go thru to get him out of the ballpark unhurt.

from what i could see the error by the SS was way worse than bartmans interference.

I had heard that they actually landed an interview with him and it was going to be part of the story. Not the confrontation in the parking garage but an actual sit down in front of the cameras interview. I guess I was wrong. Have no idea how he is living and working in the Chicago area. Maybe he changed his name and appearance.

It was just an easy excuse blaming him for a total collapse by the Cubs.

very unprofessional for alou to react as he did.

if alou just jogs back to his place in the outfield the whole incident would've been largely forgotten as just another foul ball.

his interference with a foul ball with 1 out in the 8th up 3-0 had nothing to do with the rest of the game prior gets rocked gonzalez boots an easy ball simple as that.
Die hard cubs fan too but i mean its just a freak occurance that all of sudden the cubs just shit the bed

as sad as it is for american society to act like savages around sport sometimes, other countries do much worse things than us over soccer. Just on the crapper I read some local middle eastern soccer fans fought and killed each other after a game. Players get killed over a critical mistake. Think Lebron would survive in the Jihad league?

As barbaric as we can be, other places are much worse. Suck it up bartman.
