Does your 'guy' take the meaningless games off the board in MLB the last few days of the regular season, since most of the games are pretty much auditions.

Take for instance today's Twins / Royals game has no meaning what so ever, the locals used to take games like that or Cubs / Padres down.

The office I used to work for did, but haven't been with a local in years, I see them all the time up the street, but I don't talk shop with them, well sometimes I do, the last time we were talking about 'has the offshore shops hurt business", but I digress.

1 guy yes, 1 guy no. The larger guy (50 baseball customers, 350 football customers) keeps everything up. The small guy starts pulling games in early Sept. I keep the smaller guy around however since #1 - he pays, #2 - he pays, #3 - is slow to react to changes.

The small guy is probably the best.

He's probably been in the game since WWII, answers the phone between 5 and 10 in the evenings like he says he will, will be there from 11a to late night answering the phones on the weekend, will meet you at the sports bar on Wednesday like he told you he will to pay you, will always buy the first round even if you hit him for 4 figures that week, and will work with you if you had a bad week, and can't pay the full monty.

Sure he won't give you a dime line if you bet 10's and 20's, sure he won't give you one tenth of what a 5Dimes will give you online, but you can set your watch by him.

I love the mom and pop reliable sports bar locals.

Both have advantages.

On line, you bet when you want to bet, you take your time, you can place a 10 dollar fun bet if you want, a 9 team parlay, you can shop lines , all kinds of stuff. But putting money in is a=pain in the @ss. Taking money out........ well as we all know, that can be a crap shoot.

A local...... well, if he is a good one, he is as honest as the day is long. Billhill999 stated it perfect.

I have one local, when he needs to turn on the computer yells for his wife, "Hun, come turn on the computer."

Seriously though, guys who take so-called meaningless games off the board are idiots. If they are afraid you know something they might not then why deal anything to you in the first place?

Fortunately for most locals when the phone rings the guy on the other end is dumber than they are. I lost count of how many times I was on hold listening to a local give some douchebag a readback of the 5 Favorites he just laid 30-50 extra cents on.

Speaking of dumb, I didn't want to start a new thread but, expanding the MLB Playoffs? Had they done it earlier this year EVERY GAME TONIGHT would be meaningless!
