Braves 1 out from a win, blow the game and lose in extra innings. Season over

Red Sox 1 out from a win, nobody on, blow the game and lose. season over

TB down 7-0 in the 8th, score 6. 1 out from losing the game, they hit a homer and win it in extra innings

plus players being thrown out at the plate, teams having runners at 3rd base with less than 2 outs and not scoring.........it just went on and on

and I had an amazing night

Definitely the most amazing day in MLB history.

And I don't even like baseball and glad to see Tampa take it straight up instead of a one-game playoff which is another ignorant rule by this league when a tie should go directly to who won the most head to head on the season.

So, I live out in Halifax, Nova Scotia, where it's one hour ahead of Eastern Time. After flipping back and forth between games, I go to bed at about 11pm with the Rays losing 7-0, the Sox leading 3-2 in a rain delay, and the Braves leading 3-2.

I wake up fulling expecting to read the Red Sox had won and that there would be a NL play-in game. Instead, I discover I missed what might have been the greatest night's in the history of regular season baseball.

The Philly game was a thing of beauty! They used a shit ton of pitchers and really had no intentions of winning the game.....

Can't believe the Rays comeback....

Papelbaun (a Jacksonville kid, so I always have kinda pulled for him....until he started running his mouth too much the last few years) blew that game. That was on him. The fans are on the management....this collapse was totally on the players....same for the Braves. The management put a winning product together...and the players failed to come through.

Post season should be fun. The Cards are hot right now....

Sucks the sox lost, but that was one great night of baseball.

I just hope Tampa manages to win it all....

One stat that blows my mind is that the yanks loss was the first time since 1953 that the yankees lost a game after leading by 7 runs in the 8th inning.
...and the red sox were 77-0 win leading after 8 innings this year.

Since July 28, the TB Rays are now 30-0 in games where they score 5+ runs

Also, starting July 29 - their pitching staff has allowed just 3.3 TOTAL runs per game....a pace that would utterly shatter every full-season MLB pitching record since 1900
