Never realized how much work it was managing a little team

Wife told the guy who ran the league I'd manage a team. Getting all the kids organized, practices.. etc. I'm out there for 2 hours in 100 degree heat loading the machine as well. I'm there a half hour before and after practices. Cancelled a trip to Vegas, had meetings during my sons birthday party, switching my work schedule around. Used a shitload of my printer ink and paper..... etc..

But in the end it's all worth it...

E, are you doing your due diligence and assembling all the Split stats so you know which kids hit LH and RH pitching better?

Before each big game, just ask yourself, "WWJD?"

(what would JoeMaddon do?)

you should try managing a league with 400+ kids, co-founding a fall baseball travel league that grew to 120 teams and 1,500 kids while managing a team to boot

I had no life 1997 - 2002

but I enjoyed it and I have no regrets either

coached youth baseball from 1991 - 2007

Winning the Mickey Mantle State title in 2003 was my biggest accomplishment on the field, but had many more off the field

that comes into play during tournament and travel games

It is tough especially in the Florida heat and humidity. I know from experience. Coached in Pinellas county in the 80's.

Going to take the liberty to change the topic a bit. 3 months ago I returned to the Tampa area after living up north again for 5 years. Just a thought, but barman, steamparley and other greybeards still left on this board living in the area, would it not be an interesting idea to plan a get together meet and greet at say either of the upcoming Thursday or Friday night USF games. Just thinkin'...maybe.... and why not? I'll be going and as it looks now it will be alone. Could use to meet some friends with same interests. My old sports and gambling friends are basically gone from the area. For example Fish moved away several days after I returned. Just a thought.....

Senor Jones, feel welcome to drop me a private message for exchange of contact info

At the moment, looks pretty solid that SheBar and I will be convening with multiple friends at our favorite low-budget sports bar in Clearwater for Monday night.....Bucs on MNF (presuming they sell out, which I hear is looking good) and the back end of the Rangers/Rays Game 3 which is a freakin' 5pm start

If there's at least a split (or Rays sweep) in Texas this weekend, I'm also likely to buy at least a couple of tickets for Tuesday Game 4 and would be pleased to include you, though depending on game time, SheBar may or may not be available.

Same general notion proffered to 5TeamParlay of course, though it's often a challenge for him to get across the Bay what with the rugrat demands in that Riverview

Its not the team you have to worry about, its the parents.
