Have already elaborated on the what/why for the Rays/Rangers game in other Rx MLB threads during past 24 hours

As for the Series play above, it's a combination of my belief that Tigers are at least equal to Yankees and a firm conviction that virtually any price on the Yankees at this moment will be unduly inflated

Back later with a more detailed breakdown of Why The Rays Will Win the American League pennant and other Hot Sports Opinions which combined might be worth at least a couple cups of coffee for the Reader at Large.

WHY THE TB RAYS CAN WIN THE AMERICAN LEAGUE

Here’s the whole thing wrapped up in one reasonably calm assertion.

That is, the Rays staff will continue to pitch as well as it has for the past 60 games….not “10″ or “20″ or even “30″ games….SIXTY GAMES

60 Games avg total runs allowed 3.3 per game. And it’s been very consistent with most every ten game subset within showing that steady 30-35 Total Runs allowed. This of course is an utterly filthy pace which if extrapolated into full season numbers would prove to be one of most stingy pitching/defense in recent AL history.

2) In that same stretch, the offense increased from a pedestrian 3.9 rpg to 4.9

In that same stretch the Rays have scored 5+ runs 31 times. They have won all 31 of those games without exception.

The Phillies might have enough starting punch to matchup (as they did in 2008), but I’ll be startled if either TX, DET or even NYY beat these guys now.

Final note, Rays staff overall limited NYY to 72 runs in 18 games (4.0) BOS 3.3 and currently TX to 4.1 in 10 games (3.1 the past nine).
