Bills fans thinking about the 'SI Jinx'?
By:*Meg Rossman
The Buffalo Bills are off to a 3-0 start and it's got the whole football world talking. In fact, one of the Bills appeared on the cover of Sports Illustrated this week. A great honor, but also a huge curse according to some superstitious fans. YNN's Meg Rossman tell us about the S.I. Jinx, and what one expert has to say about its impact on the Bills' season.
.
BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Paranormal investigator and psychic Joe Nickell is unsure of a Bills win against the Bengals this Sunday, “...No...that's not, that's not clear. Unfortunately."
What is clear to Nickell is that Bills Cornerback Drayton Florence's appearance on the cover of Sports Illustrated this week will have no effect on the team's shot at the playoffs.
"Lighten up as far as beliefs in silly superstitions and have a good time,” said Nickell.
Since 1957, some of the world's most superstitious sports fans and athletes believe that appearing on the cover of the magazine jinxes a team's shot at a winning season.
And with Florence appearing on this week's issue after last Sunday's win, it's got fans praying this season isn't a repeat of 2003. When Bills Defensive Tackle Sam Adams was pictured after a touchdown against the Pats.
Bills fan, Jim Schmidt said, "The Sports Illustrated jinx? What do you think? Oh yeah, not this time. The Bills are going to be okay."
In fact, Schmidt said despite past performances there's plenty of evidence to show we'll be the first to break the curse.
"Fitzpatrick is playing well. Gailey is doing a good job coaching, defense seems like they've improved I think we're going to do real well,” said Schmidt.
As for tomorrow's game, Schmidt, like Nickell offers some predictions of his own, “We're definitely going to win. At least by ten.”
