He pretty much compared Obama to Hitler and said Barack was "the enemy" in an interview. Got himself canned.

No freedom of speech in America these days. The funny thing is that good ole' Hank could have compared Obama to Nero, Genghis Khan, or even probably Stalin or Pol Pot and it would have flown over the head's of the sheeple in the media. Bottom line, comparing something to Nazism or Hitler = pink slip.

Either he did or he didn't. I don't see where he did.

What do you expect?
His daddy was a train wreck drunk, he's a train wreck drunk.
Not surprised if there was alcohol, or something else involved here.

From TMZ:

Hank Williams Jr. has just released a statement regarding his controversial statements on Fox News Channel this morning -- claiming he was simply "misunderstood" when he compared Barack Obama to Adolf Hitler.

Williams Jr. says, "Some of us have strong opinions and are often misunderstood. My analogy was extreme – but it was to make a point. I was simply trying to explain how stupid it seemed to me - how ludicrous that pairing was."

He continues, "They’re polar opposites and it made no sense. They don’t see eye-to-eye and never will. I have always respected the office of the President.”

Williams Jr. adds, "Every time the media brings up the tea party it’s painted as racist and extremists – but there’s never a backlash – no outrage to those comparisons… Working class people are hurting – and it doesn’t seem like anybody cares. When both sides are high-fiving it on the ninth hole when everybody else is without a job – it makes a whole lot of us angry. Something has to change. The policies have to change.”

No freedom of speech in America these days.

Freedom of speech does not mean freedom from consequence of what a person says. Hank Jr. is entirely free to say whatever idiotic thought crosses his remnants of a brain, but that doesn't mean anyone is obligated to give him a free pass.

If Hank Williams were black nobody would care... Can't be white and say anything that is not politically correct nowadays.

of course he was drunk. he was obviously drunk, and at 7 am, which is even better.

lol @ bringing up first amendment rights. i love how this is the attempted get out of jail free card for any fuck up people make with their mouths. how did that argument work for jimmy the greek? the guy who said the first amendment doesnt absolve you from consequences nailed it. one of the 'catches' of having the right to do something is that you also have to shoulder the responsibility of what you do with that right.

his non apology apology is laughable. i have always respected the office of the president. apparently his pr people made him cut off the sentence after that

hank wanted to run for senate in tennessee next year or something. i guess his hard line stance in his non apology apology is intended to be endearing.to whatever constituency he is shooting for. good luck hank! should be a sweet senate race to view from afar

oh BTW, the only thing we are missing out on because of this is a terrible cross-promotional open between hank jrs song and some new, awful show on ABC where kids dance around and make instrument noises with their mouths. jaw droppingly bad mnf open. its possible that was just week 1s open, im not sure because i skip it on dvr, but either way WFC

Looks like the network is now open to bringing him back at some point if he keeps his mouth shut.

Now we just need Faith Hill to do an interview and compare someone to Bin Laden or Stalin, maybe we can get rid of that horrible song on Sunday nights as well.

This is such a stupid, worn out argument. We have freedom of speech in this country. You can say whatever you want, but you also have to suffer the consequences of that speech. Did he get put in jail because of his comments? No, he got fired. Quite a big difference, eh?
