I'm not an Apple fan.... but I the fact that it's so Light, Fast and would be easy to Travel with, I'm looking at the IPad 2.

Guess I'm going with the WiFi + 3G

Now even though I have a HTC Thunderbolt that gives me a Hotspot anytime I need it. Can I go off of that ? or do I still have to pay for a service Plan ??

Also , what Extras should I be looking at ??

dude wait for the ipad 3. the ipad 2 was minor updates to the original ipad. the 3 will be much much better in high resolution, much better camera and an overall better operating system. 2 months ago i was ready to pull the trigger on the ipad2 and it was wise of me not to buy it and wait for the 3. it should be out by January. If you buy the 2 now you will regret it.
When I do buy the 3 i will not get wi-fi. if you have a cell phone with a data plan thats all u need unless your are traveling alot! I am a school teacher and i have wi-fi at my school. good luck.

No Ipad 3 in Jauary. Dont buy the plan. There is WiFi everywhere, and if you have a mobile hotspot use that.

Nothing to know, I have one but not sure why. It is very nice, but seeems redundant to have it with a lap top and iphone

Not 100% sure that the Ipad 3 comes out in Jan.
They had thought it would come out now.... just like the Iphone 5 was first thought to be released in Sept.

we all know what happened to that.... more so with No Iphone 5 Today... only a Iphone 4S ( an Iphone 4 on Roids )

which brings me to the new iOS 5, which is being used for all New Ipad 2's

Bottom line to Me, is I'm not waiting another 3+ Months for the Ipad 3 to come out.
I would also think if it doesn't come out for Christmas, it ain't coming out until Months later.

So even if the Ipad 2 that I get has WiFi + 3G, no need for the Plan ?

I know the WiFi Only Ipad is cheaper, but figure it's good to have the one with 3G in case I ever need it.

If you have a cell already with Bluetooth and a data plan, I think you can tether the iPad and phone wirelessly to share the data plan. Then you don't need the 3G.

I have the original ipad and yes there are a lot of wifi connections(more if you have comcast cable) but, you need the 3G connection also. It is only like $150.00 and you are online any time. Cost is $25.00 for 2g of data which is a ton. I watch movies at work and use about 2g a month. Other than that you will love it! Get Sportsoptions! It runs like a dream on it lol

Ok, Not sure what the $150 is all about... but understand the $25 a month through AT&T ( which i would Never do ) $30 a month through Verizon

But if I have my Cellphone, which is a Hot Spot.... there's my 3G service. So I should have to Pay the month fee

My question is..... Do I just get the Ipad with WiFi ? or do i get the one that has WiFi + 3G ??
the price for the WiFi + 3G is $100 more... which i don't care about.

But if I can use my Phone as a Hot Spot ...which Ipad do I need ??

If you can uuse your phone as a hotspot then just go wifi only. I think you said it was for your wife, so hopefully she has the same capabiities.

The hotspot through VErizon with my Iphone is 20/month which is cheaper than the 3G plan

Yeah, I figure she will mostly use it around the House... which has Wireless
and when we are away, she can use my Thunderbolt as a Hotspot.
Or if at a Hotel, she can use their WiFi... if I'm let's say ....if we are in vegas and I'm down in the casino :)

My Only use , is for Sportsoptions on the Road.
My Thunderbolt is everything I need to make Bets, Check Email, etc.

Flash will be a thing of the past in a year...
ok steve jobs...

this is quite laughable.. he wishes it was a thing of the past.. but notice how we already on ipad 3's and iphone 5's and still no flash gone?

the sky is falling chicken little :D

BAS - u only need the wifi version if u are gonna use ur wifi hotspot. This means u can run ur ipad on ur phones "3g service" when u choose to share it through wifi :)

enjoy man. but still honestly stop in bestbuy and play with he other tablets with android honeycomb on it. u might be impressed and be able to convince the wife otherwise so she can watch free streaming movies. heh being able to download divx movies and play them on ur player and watch them is something the iphone doesnt deal with correctly and never will.. the thing that sucks about the apple shit is all the freely available stuff they try and lock u out of by forcing the store store store and no freedom of downloading ur own shit without usb cables.. etc

Apple makes 2 kinds of Ipads. One with just wifi one with wifi and and a cell phone 3g antenna built in. That is an additional $150.00. The Ipad with just wifi is $150.00 less
