Michael Vick's record rushing pace
BY ED BARKOWITZ
We interrupt the sinking ship that is the Eagles season to point out that Michael Vick is on the verge of a pretty decent achievement.
With 71 yards, Vick will become the NFL's all-time leading rusher among quarterbacks. Former Eagle Randall Cunningham (4,928) tenuously holds the record.
Tackling Vick has always been an ice-on-the-spoon proposition. Defensive coordinators lie awake at night worrying about the pocket breaking down and Vick slipping away with only open field in front of him.
Vick hasn't been the No. 1 fantasy quarterback this season as many projected. He's 14th in passing yards, tied for 12th in TD passes. Vick leads all quarterbacks in rushing yards, but he's yet to run for a touchdown this year after registering a career-best nine scores for the Eagles in 2010.
Vick has run for 71 or more yards 21 times in his 102 games (21 percent), including twice this year when he scrambled for 97 yards in the opener at St. Louis and 75 more last week against the 49ers.
Breaking Cunningham's record would be laudable, but turning the Eagles' 1-3 start into a playoff run would be worthy of even more plaudits.
"Man, if I could break the record and get a win it would be so sweet," Vick said on Wednesday. "It will happen when it happens ... We'll see where we end up in the next couple of weeks. But one game at a time, one play at a time, we'll see what happens."

I don't think Marino is a top 3 QB at all, but rushing yards for a QB is usually a meaningless stat.

Dan was one of the if not the greatest passers of all time.

The other team KNEW he was going to pass. Hell he was in the shotgun, with an empty backfield, would point to the wideout, and the ball would be snapped. 3.5 secs latter the wideout would have a cannon ball hit his chest.

NO other QB could impose his will on another team like Dan Marino.

still remember the 85 monday night game when they beat the bears with the rolling pocket and it needed a guy like marino to snap off throws like rifle shots......made a fortune on that game.......might have been the last time i was right though.......:(
