Should this be legal?

I guess I've never paid that close attention because I've certainly never noticed it before, but I'm watching the Rangers/Tigers came and Andrus was on first. They zoomed in on the Rangers 1st base coach who had a stop watch in his hand and was timing Benoit's delivery to the plate.

Obviously, when scouting, coaches should "time" opposing pitchers but it seems against the spirit of baseball to allow a coach on the field to "time" the opposing pitcher.

Maybe that's just me but was curious what others thought about it.

Yep....I'm pretty sure it's SOP for most professional baseball teams these days

I completely understand that it is legal and a common practice evidently. It just rubbed me the wrong way. For some reason, if I was commissioner, I don't think I would allow it.

of course its legit, that is why the pitcher has to switch up his delivery sometimes
