What makes you think that Luckydog?

I decided to stay away from over as you can see in my thread, however I do think the total will go over... Harrison is 0-4 with a 7.43 ERA in 5 career starts vs. Tigers.. 0-2 with a 6.30 ERA this season as well as 0-3 lifetime @ Comerica with a 7.03 ERA.. SO EVERYTHING points to him giving up what I think @ least 5-6 runs.. Porcello against Texas is 1-1 with a 6. something ERA vs. Rangers.. Feel like Rangers are going to put up minimum 4-5.. See this game being a 6-4 or 7-5 win for Tigers.. Just my opinion...

Understand, but in the playoffs I tend to pick unders, and 9.5 is a good amount to take

Agreed Dog. I'm on the OVER 9.

Harrison got banged around by Detroit this year, Porcello struggled at Comerica this year. 5.66 ERA with a 1.449 WHIP.

Texas averages 4.4 on the road, Detroit 5 at home. With 2 pitchers not having success in today's situation, I'm looking at the OVER. This series has been UNDER except for a fluke Grand Slam walkoff that had UNDER written all over it.

Lots of under trends between these 2 teams, but this is strictly a pitching play. Texas has used a lot of bullpen over the past 2 games , and Detroit has used their best relievers the past 2 games. With no days off, this game should get into the bullpens, and runs should be scored there too.

Don't let the number scare you away. I've played several OVER 9's in the playoffs that have covered easily. Playoffs have game where runs get scored too, I wouldn't not make a play because of a generalization. If you look for the right situation, which I believe today is one of them, then the OVER looks like a good play here. Hopefully another one happens today.

OVER 9 is the play for me. Good Luck.

Then that should tell you that you are generalizing the "playoffs" and thinking under whenever you have a high number set by Vegas.. It is set that HIGH to get people just like you to take it... Not saying you can't win. Just saying..

Its also set high because they understand that runs SHOULD be scored.

All you can do is analyze the game, make an informed decision, and whatever happens does.

I don't agree that you play an under in the playoffs just because. You look at the matchups, bullpen situations, hitting splits, and go from there.

I may very well be wrong today, the final could always be 5-3 or something. But looking at the pitching situations, the taxed bullpens, questionable starting pitchers...no days off.......I think OVER 9 is a good play.

I just feel the Under is a safe play as I feel pitching has been well in this series and think this will be a 4-3 game.... Ranges aren't the best in the afternoon either... just sayin

Your only mention is that you tend to play unders, and that the number is good to take because its high. No mention of hitting or pitching.

I don't care what the pitching has been this series. You're now dealing with the back of the rotation guys, not front line starters. Also, the bullpens have been used. Extra innings 2 days ago, more bullpen used last night. If the Rangers can get to Adams and Feliz with a lead, then the under might get there.

Not saying it can't go under, but in this situation, the over is a play I'm on. I have played two OVER 9 in the playoffs, and they both soared over the number. MIL/Arizona Game 4 and St Louis/Mil Game 2. Both games had situations that despite the high number, I liked the Over. I think today is another one of those situations.

Good luck with your plays.

I don't have it all figured out. I try to make an informed decision based on today's factors, not generalities.

Lighten up.

Yes, I am on the OVER 9.

Also like UNDER 7 in St Louis, many under trends in that one.

If I had to play 1 game it would be St Louis.

Didn't mean to get into a pissing contest, sometimes words on a page can sound pissy when they aren't meant to. My apologies if it came off that way.

Best of luck today, regardless of what side we are on.

And I like under 7 too. 7 is kind of low, but I see good pitching in this one...STL wins..

Few trends of note:

Under is 6-1-2 in the last 9 meetings in Detroit
Under is 3-1-1 in Harrisons last 5 starts vs. Tigers.
