I never talked politics with my parents, they provided for me very well but had a terrible marriage. I moved cross country to San Diego after High school ( 1982). Dad died in 1992, Mom in 2002.
Dad worked three jobs to avoid Mom, he was an accountant ( with a degree) for the Electric company by day and a janitor by night, he still found time to drive me on my paper route on sat and Sun mornings....actually I drove his Pinto at like 13 years old around the neighborhood and he stuffed the papers in the tubes....I didn't need his help. just as easy to do it on my Peugeot moped, but Sundays were heavy. We usually went out to breakfast 10 miles away with me driving at at like 14 0r so, pretty cool !
My older brother, by 7.5 years graduated about 1974, went to college in Colo ( is still there). This opened up a bedroom, parents never slept in the same room ever again
Mom worked as a head teller at a bank.....she spent her off time normally at Bridgeport/ Milford/ Hartford/ Newport Jai- alai. I often went with her, but not always
Well I booked out in 1982....kind of weird with absent ( and older parents....mom was 43 when I was born in 1963), by absent I mean at 16 I was an adult.
Screwy house, plenty of money, but nobody home....I smoked a lot of pot as teen, cut a lot of school too, still graduated with honors, and got out at 11:14 AM my senior year when I bothered to attend school.
